INVISIBLE LOVE

In the beginning…
She never believed in love at first sight
Until he entered her lonesome world
So blissfully in love with her good-looking guy
She was the luckiest girl around

She saw only perfection in his brawny demeanor
His dashing smile enlightened her soul
He was charming and wonderfully masculine
She was completely head over heels

Then dark clouds loomed, her world was tilting
She often blamed herself; her love wasn’t enough
His character transformed in a wicked way
Crushing and bruising her spirit

He took advantage of the simplest things
He had to prove the power was his
She showed no feeling when the pain began
Means to escaping consumed her mind

She forgave at first, assuming his behavior had lapsed
Never thinking it would return again
She was raised to absolve and so she did
Not knowing his love would turn evil

In the present…
She completes the dinner prepared for him
And concludes with a silent prayer
Remaining calm, though unsure of his mood
Her emotions won’t freeze by fear

He walks through the door like a gentleman
And greets her with his meaningless kiss
She serves him his meal on their china
“How was your day?” he, carelessly, asks

She laughs at his absurdity,
But not for him to hear
She mustn’t provoke an angry attack
She must train her reactions to be still

With his stinging words and brutal hands
He’s pounded her into the hardened ground
Maybe weakness clouded her vision
Not allowing the truth to be seen

But, as sure as she was taught to absolve
She had a choice to be smart and proactive
Thus, for self respect, she’ll seek the light
So she can watch the sun rise on the other side

FALLING

Here I am
with open arms
I give my love to you

My adoration
and devotion
are from my heart
so true

Mesmerized by
your baby blues
this came as no surprise
with just one look
I was lost
inside your dreamy eyes

Seek no more
for a caring soul
who’ll love you
as I do

We’re meant to be
magically
I for you
and you for me

Sharing a little Gratitude and Thanksgiving Wishes :)

I’m thankful for
my parents, who brought me
into this world
They had two lovely daughters
Then another little girl
They’ve lived into their nineties
Seen new changes along the way
Each day, I think of them
Each day, for them, I pray

I’m thankful for
my husband, I’m the lucky one
for all he does for me
for how he shares his heart
and gives of himself so lovingly

I’m thankful for
my children, my daughter and my son
for who they’ve grown to be
for their love and compassion
they give so generously

I’m thankful for
all those unmentioned, they know who they are
and for my loving dog who passed
She’ll be our forever star…

for sight, so I may see
all of God’s creation
for sound,  so I may hear “I Love You”
with tremendous elation

and last, but not forgettable
for all of you
my friends in the blogging world
May your Thanksgiving be
absolutely wonderful!

Hugs and Blessings
Lauren

GOOD NIGHT, MY LOVE

They leisurely stroll

down the moonlit path

Their shoulders brush

as he takes her hand

Soft to the touch

Her eyes, beguiling,

She leans into him

and catches him smiling

 A serenading breeze

follows them for awhile

He’s enchanted by her presence

and her dazzling style

The path’s end draws closer

He pulls her to embrace

Her lips, breathtakingly near

He kisses her, cradling her face

LUCKY FOR US

This Haiku follows my post
from November 9th.

Yesterday was our first day of coming home to an empty house.
It was tough…
it’s amazing how the routines are sorely missed…
in the morning, coming home from work and bedtime.
How she greeted us with her smile,
how she loved having her face scratched
and her belly rubbed…sigh~
We know it will get easier with time,
but for now…

didn’t know the end

was just around the corner

missing her so much

Saying Good-bye to our Beloved Dog Today

Dear Fellow Bloggers,

This won’t be one of my ordinary poems.

I’m simply sharing the sad news
that our Lucky Girl passed away today.
She was a black lab mix, 10 1/2 years old
and a true canine sweetheart.

She no longer desired her normal walks or hikes
with us, as her hind legs were getting weaker.
So, we continued to give her lovin’
and made sure she was comfortable.

Ironically, she was fine last night and this morning,
before we all left for work and school.
About two hours later, our neighbors
heard her crying and checked on her.
At that point, she was lying down, unable to move.

Our neighbor stayed with her until I got home, shortly after.
He had covered her with a blanket, kept her warm and
continued petting her, consoling her
until one of her family members came home.

When I saw her, I bent down,
kissed her on her nose
and petted her.  She lifted her head,
looked at me, then put her head down.
I took her to our vet, after calling them
ahead of time, letting them know…

She passed away on the ride to the vet.

I’ve cried all day off and on and I’m not done, yet.

I’m thankful for many things:
my neighbor who took care of her until I got home
the fact that she didn’t suffer long
and, that she was able to say good-bye to
at least one of us…

We adopted her and gave her a good, loving home
for 9 years…

In return, she gave us unconditional love…

We now have a void in our hearts
and will miss her tremendously..

We love you, Lucky Girl~

Here’s a photo of her smiling at us all~

OUR STORY

Before I met my husband, I was in the end of a 3 year relationship going nowhere fast.
My hope of meeting Mr. Right was rapidly fading.
I was only around 26, but I still felt time was running out.
Then, I put my refrigerator up for sale, he bought it and the rest is history!
So…we met in a funny way, but
it just goes to show you
that when you least expect it,
love happens!

Our paths were tangled, indirectly
We were unaware of

what was about to take place

The pace was swift and

it was fair to say

Our lives were about to change

I won’t rearrange the series of events
Some too laughable to erase

In any case

We crossed that bridge

through the sale of a Frig

Yes, don’t underestimate
what God can create humorously

that may become blissfully amazing

A month passed by
Hearts all a flutter

You better believe we were in love

Six months later
Riding a ski lift to the top

He popped the question

Six months after that
We said I do

A swift pace it was

because

We just knew

Now a little grayer
More laugh lines showing

Two kids still growing

We must be blessed

Sounds a bit crazy, however

It’s still love forever
