As blue embraces the glow
and pink shades shimmer,
I liberate my worries
then hope delivers.
With beauty so near
of a soothing deep sapphire,
thoughts become clearer.
I attended a painting party sometime ago and this landscape was my first attempt at painting anything, except for walls in the house. The process was so much fun and it was interesting to see the final masterpieces of the other “students.” Not a single one was identical. They were all vibrant and magical in the same color scheme, but included details only distinctive to the artist.
Then recently, a friend told me about Seguidilla poetry, which inspired me to write a poem to pair with the painting. And so, I present to you another first attempt. It’s good for the brain to step out of the box now and then and I hope you enjoyed both.

Such beautiful art and the poetry goes so well too. Kudos.
Thank you very much, Shanyu! I appreciate your kind comment!
The painting has the touch of magic Lauren and yes, it exudes hope…Lovely words to complement it.
Thanks so much, Balroop. I appreciate your beautiful comment. I hope to try another painting again someday. That was truly out of my comfort zone. π
Both the painting and the poem say peace in different ways. Good job, Lauren.
That was my goal, John, because peace is what I’m craving for our country and world. And I have a hunch others are craving the same thing. Thanks so much!
We have to hope that we get there. π
Lovely, Lauren…
Thanks very much, Bette!
I do love your painting, it speaks to me before I read your poem.
If that is your first painting I donβt think for a moment you should stop there.
Go in, use all art forms you can.
Miriam
Wow, Miriam, your comment is so inspiring and motivating and I’m grateful. Thank you! As I told Balroop, the painting was really out of my comfort zone, but it was so fun and rewarding. And in doing so, I have a bigger appreciation for artists who can truly paint. π·
I love these firsts! What fun. It’s a wonderful time to experiment, be creatively fearless, and try new things. β€
Thanks, Diana, now is as good a time as any to try new things and step out of that fear of failing mentality. Hope all is well with you…πΌπ
Doing well, thank you. It’s almost autumn and I look forward to the creative opportunities that winter brings.
I feel the same, but we have to get through fire season first that has just begun. I used to always look forward to autumn, but now with this new normal, there’s a sense of dread, too. One day at a time, while focusing on the beautiful and the positive. π
Oh, true. Flu season… Yes, one day at a time.
Yes…flu, fire, virus, sigh…moving on, have a good day, Diana!
Very beautiful.
Thanks so much, Nico!
Beautiful, Lauren.
Thanks, Jill! πΌ
Hi Lauren – this is a terrific pairing – I love it! And your painting would look great on my wall π Thanks for sharing your talents!
Thanks so much, Barbara, and I wish I could paint another one for you! π I appreciate your kind words! π
The pair work well together.
Thanks, Andrew! That’s nice to “hear.” I went through several drafts! π
My daughter is a painter and taught art to children before the pandemic put a stop to teaching. Loved your picture.
How wonderful and you must be very proud. Hopefully, she’ll be back at work soon in some capacity. Thanks so much, Ian!
It’s great to try something new once in a while–and your painting turned out really well.
It gets the wheels turning again. π Thanks, Binky!
Wow! Lauren, I love both the poem and your painting! A first?! Really! You have a gift. The painting reminds me of Van Goghβs work, pure magic and incredibly beautiful in a simpler way. Your poem captures the heart and soul of your painting, this time with words decorating your canvas. A terrific combination and I hope you try more of these in the future! I look forward to them! A lovely and serene start to my day, Lauren … thank you. Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week, my friend. Xx πβ€οΈ
Hi Annika,
Thanks so much for your beautiful and encouraging words. I appreciate them very much, and I hope to try another painting, too. The process was rewarding and I now have a better appreciation for true artists of that realm. Wishing you a lovely week, too, and Friday is around the corner which always lifts my spirits. π Hugs, my friend. πππ
Ah, Lauren your words and your beautiful painting intertwine wonderfully! Thank you for the beauty! π€π Happy September! π€π
Thanks so much for your lovely words, Marina, and Happy September to you, too. Can you believe another month has arrived? Hope your week has been good! ππ»ππ»ππ»
I know… summer (almost) gone… I really can’t believe how fast months fly by! It’s been full but good. Hope you’re enjoying it! π€ππ€ππ€ππ€
Lauren, your painting is magical and so vibrant and yes, full of hope. I hope you feel inspired to explore this part of your creativity, as you have a talent and natural feel for it.
‘I liberate my worries
then hope delivers.’
Your poem says it all… β€ β€ β€
Thanks so much, Jane, for your lovely words and encouragement. Candidly, I was proud with how my first attempt turned out. π Actually, I was surprised, too, because doubt was diligent that day. So, I’d love to try again sometime in the future. And we can’t live without Hope, can we? Thanks again, my friend, and wishing you a beautiful day. Hugs ππ·ππ·ππ·
I love how creating something new to you opened up this discovery. Here’s to the courage to ‘have a go’ and the hope that there are always new things for us to explore. You truly have a talent for painting, Lauren and it felt to me that on your first painting you were working in a medium that was natural to you. Wishing you a beautiful day, my lovely. β€ β€ β€
That is such a lovely piece of art you painted, Lauren. And your first time painting a picture too. It looks like lovely pink cherry blossoms contrasting a blue hour sky at the end of the day as the moon is coming out to shine. Maybe you should paint more, Lauren. I also like your words too. Sometimes we feel the most calm and clear when we see the most beautiful things in this world.
What a lovely, encouraging comment, Mable, thank you so much! I will try another painting in the future because this was more fun and rewarding than I anticipated. I also didn’t think I could do it. π I agree with how calm we feel when we truly see the beauty surrounding us. Have a wonderful day, and thanks again, for visiting and commenting.
Spectacular is to say the obvious. Blue for me has always been a favorite and yes in the painting it does liberate the worries to make way for Hope!
Cheers π
Thank you SO much for your awesome comment. I truly appreciate you taking the time and offering more encouragement for me to try a second attempt. π Take care!
Beautiful artwork and poetry, Lauren.
This reminds me of when I took a painting class (a long time ago). It felt good to try something new. A few of my paintings, didn’t look too bad for a beginner! You never know how you will surprise yourself stepping outside your box, Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your posts.
Many Blessings
Lisa xoxo
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your wonderful and uplifting words. You’re right, we’ll never know if we can do something unless we step out of our comfort zones and try. I plan to paint again, but haven’t had the time right now. Maybe you should do a painting post, too? π Take care and much love! πΌπ
You never know, Lauren π (about doing a painting post) I have gone through phases with my painting. My true love and constant is writing β Take care, Many Blessings, Lisa
I understand and feel the same about writing, which is why I havenβt had time to paint. Iβm also working on a few book ideas in addition to writing for my blog. π Anyway, Happy Friday and have a great weekend. π»π¦
Gorgeous painting and word artistry, Lauren. Keep on painting! I hope to see more pairings. Soothing deep sapphire blessings to you, MW β€οΈ
Aww, thanks so much, MW! Your lovely words inspire me to paint again. Between work and writing, I haven’t had the time. But I suppose I’ll have to make the time. π
Blessings and much love to you! ππ
I love your painting! It reminds me a bit of Van Gogh’s Starry Night – all swirly and whimsical. I had to look up “Seguidilla poetry” and am intrigued. When I saw the description of the format, I thought, “that sounds like a dance.” And, come to find out, it derived from one! I love to dance and I love poetry… what a lovely way to combine them.
Thanks very much, Janis! And I love: “It reminds me a bit of Van Goghβs Starry Night β all swirly and whimsical.” You really made my day with that description! Yes, the poetry form is a dance and it wasn’t easy to write. I was a little nervous before clicking publish here. π
Thanks again for your lovely comment, and I’m so glad you enjoyed this pairing. π
I really love this painting. This is looking awesomeπ.
Thanks so much, Olivia. I appreciate your kind words and visit!
I absolutely LOVE your painting! And, of course, I like the poem, too π
Thanks so much and have a great weekend! π
Congratulations on both accounts Lauren, the vibrancy in your painting and well composed Seguidilla poetry.
Kind regards.
Thanks so much, Ian. I appreciate your wonderful and encouraging words. Hope all is well with you.
This was stunning Lauren. Loved this form of poetry, so beautifully paired with this stunning artwork bursting with color. β€
Thanks so much, Debby! I was pretty happy with my first painting attempt :), but doubted my ability at first. Iβd like to try again someday. And I always appreciate your lovely comments. Hope youβve had a great weekend! ππ
Nice and relaxing Lauren, the weather isn’t the best right now. You should consider picking up the brushes again. π β€
I don’t remember where you live, Debby. My brain has been in outer space this week. But you’re right, the weather is wild all over CA and other parts of the country. From all the fires, our sky was dark this morning even around 10 am. I felt like I was working in the office at midnight! It’s just awful what people are dealing with, and I’m finding it really hard to feel that things can improve in years to come. On a lighter note, I’d love to paint again, but I’m using up free time for writing – still working on a book, along with writing new poems and stories and blogging! Ahh! Where is all the time?? π I’m rambling now. Have a good evening and take care! π
That’s what I always say, where does the time go for all the things we want to do? I see the news Lauren, the fires are petrifying. Good idea the masks should help with breathing smokey air too. I live in Toronto. π Please stay safe β€
It’s ironic about the masks, and then, there’s still Covid to worry about in the midst of everything else. Thanks for letting me know where you live. π We are doing our best to stay safe and you do the same. π
Thanks again Lauren β€
Wow this is wonderful Lauren. Beauty in words and painting. Such powerful colours, vibrant while holding peace and balance as is your poem.
Well done with YOUR first masterpiece.ππππ
There is so much beauty and inspiration in your words, too, Sue, and thank you SO much! Painting was a wonderful experience and I hope to try again soon. Sending much love, my friend. ππ§‘π
πππ
Adore the poem.
Adore the painting.
Thank you, dear Lauren! β€
Thanks again, Resa! Sending virtual hugs! ππ₯°

You’re so talented – your painting is beautiful! Can’t believe that’s your first effort. The composition, colors and balance are very pleasing. And of course I also liked your poem. ππ
Aww, thanks, Betty. I think I got lucky! π But it is done layer by layer which made it easier. π₯°ππ
