Direction

windy road

So many corners to turn
I yearn to know
which way to go
left might be right
but my sight is blurry
as my heart is hurting
and the road is
never-ending
I long for
that green meadow
up ahead
dotted with flowers
to ease my thoughts
for bees and
butterflies
to make me smile
I haven’t smiled
in awhile
Instead
my stomach
remains in knots
I’m not one to dwell
on the impossible
yet, I’ve run into
a brick wall
It’s very tall
and climbing walls
has never been
a strength

but now
is as good as any

to begin
again

Longing

My mind won’t rest
with you in my dreams
and the breeze outside
my window
singing a wistful tune
under the spell
of the moon
and when I wake
at dawn
you rise with the sun
you’re in everything
I do
and all that’s been
done in my day
Oh, how I’m missing you

Recording of “I Loved You”

Hello Everyone,

I’m stepping out of my comfort zone, so please be nice! 🙂
My voice sounds different to me recorded,
but I thought this would be something fun to try…
This poem is from January, when I returned
after taking a break for a few months.
Many of you have already read it,
but I hope you enjoy this audio version, as well.

Chardonnay

Do I need
fifty dollar words,
candlelight and wine
to express
what’s on my mind?
I’m not one
to write heartfelt
emotions in rhythm
or rhyme
No poet, am I
and no fancy words
can match the hue
in your eyes
so I’ll be wise and
take my cue
and simply whisper
“I Love You”

Weight

It’s amazing
how a word
or phrase
can weigh heavy,

like two hands
pushing you down…
down into
a sea of self doubt

and the only survival
is the strength you seize,
arms straight and strong,
with every muscle
you have,

To Push Back,
find air again –
and breathe.

Take Two

Some stories last forever
with fairy tale happy endings,
leaving the readers with a sigh

Ours was written
in scribbles and question marks,
leaving them wondering why

There are chapters
I would have wished deleted,
instead I read and cried

Perhaps a re-write
could be possible,
are you willing to try?

When you’re ready
to re-enact our parts
I’ll be standing by

“Walking the Talk”

Have you ever “talked” about “doing” something, but never did it? I have, so I’ve chosen this year “for doing” and I’m excited to say that my first poetry book is in the production process. I am publishing it through Xlibris and they have been really great to work with. It is expected to be released in October.

Most importantly, I’m dedicating the book to my parents, In Loving Memory of Mom. I wish I had committed to it before she passed away, but I can only move forward now and do it for Dad. Anyway, I just thought of sharing some exciting news and am proud of myself for finally “walking the talk!” 🙂

I also know several other friends who are publishing books, so this truly is the year “for doing!” I’m excited to read them all!

Thanks for visiting and I wish you
a wonderful weekend ahead
and encourage you to…

MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!
