“Walking the Talk”

Have you ever “talked” about “doing” something, but never did it? I have, so I’ve chosen this year “for doing” and I’m excited to say that my first poetry book is in the production process. I am publishing it through Xlibris and they have been really great to work with. It is expected to be released in October.

Most importantly, I’m dedicating the book to my parents, In Loving Memory of Mom. I wish I had committed to it before she passed away, but I can only move forward now and do it for Dad. Anyway, I just thought of sharing some exciting news and am proud of myself for finally “walking the talk!” šŸ™‚

I also know several other friends who are publishing books, so this truly is the year “for doing!” I’m excited to read them all! ā™„

Thanks for visiting and I wish you
a wonderful weekend ahead
and encourage you to…

  1. Cool. I’m working on my own poetry book as well. I’m trying to get my done by December of this year. I wish you the best of luck!

  2. Congratulations. So daunting and exciting. I wish you the very best of luck. In Irish we would say “Go n-eiri an t’adh leat”

  3. I know how much goes into getting a book into publication, Lauren, and am so thrilled you are taking the plunge! And I know your mom is SO proud of you in this and so many other ways. Blessings, hugs and love, Diane ā™„

    1. Thanks so much, Diane, and coming from the expert, I appreciate your lovely words…also, about Mom..I feel that way, too, but really wished I had gotten into gear earlier.. Sending much love, hugs and blessings back to you, too! xoxo (p.s. I love your book and was and still am in awe of your writing talent, my friend!)

      1. Hey, I started writing when I was a child and always thought that is all that I would do. Here I am at 60 and finally with a novel published and often kicking myself for ‘wasting’ so much time. But, things do seem to happen when and as they are meant. You are in ‘gear’ now and it is the perfect moment! And I can’t tell how much it means that you are enjoying my novel. Thank you for your constant encouragement, for I still doubt myselt every day … XO ā™„

      2. Oh, Diane, thanks for sharing your personal thoughts and I guess now there are 2 of us who carry a little bit of self doubt around. But just so you know, you are one of a small circle who inspire me!:) Hugs and Cheers to encouraging and supporting each other and those around us! ā™„ xoxo

    1. Thanks so much, Christy, this really is the year for doing, isn’t it? I’m in the process of reading yours and love it! And thanks for your kind words about Mom, too..Love you, too, my friend! ā™„

  4. Omg LS Congrats!! So happy for you and proud of you. We definitely have to be more “doers” than “sayers”. I hope great success with your first of many publications. Know that your mother is šŸ™‚ down fromheaven.

  5. I know how you feel. I should get my first hard copy draft for 100 cartoon book in a few days. It has been many years in the making with many disappointments. Producing a color book images and not mere text is expensive and complicated. Good luck.

    1. Wow, so happy for you, Carl! And after all the time, it will be worth it to hold the final product! Will you be selling it? Mine will be on Amazon and Barnes and Noble and also available through the publisher. I’d love a copy of yours, so let me know…thanks for your good luck wishes and I wish you much success, too!

  6. That’s fantastic Lauren! My hubby keeps hounding me to have my poetry published, I guess there is a fear of rejection simmering just below the surface! I’m very proud of you, well done dear friend! You are braver than I! šŸ˜‰

    1. Thanks, Sharon, and self publishing trumps all fear. However, it took me awhile to finally take the plunge, but I’m very excited and I hope it all turns out well. My Dad is very excited, too! šŸ™‚ You should do it, so consider yourself “nudged” from me! ā™„

    1. It does feel good and it’ll feel better when I have the tangible product in hand. šŸ™‚ By the way, I’m enjoying your book, Sarah, it turned out beautifully. Thanks so much!

  7. I am so deeply impressed by and proud of you! I will do my best to follow your example, but first and foremost am savoring your accomplishments, which are many!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, for your very kind words, my friend, and although I’m very excited, there is also a little bit of self doubt lurking in the shadows, always. Thanks again, though! xoxo

  8. Way to go, Lauren! I for one will buy your book as soon it is out. And as promised will promote it on my blog as well…
When I’m back I will catch up with your blog!
Keep safe, stay well and ‘read’ you soon again.
love and hugs from across the blue big pond. xoxo
