Ideal

Beautiful Blooms June 2011 004

With a shy confession, I must admit
sometimes, I dream of perfection
where the road ahead is one of silk
and balance has no objection

Where answers dangle from the trees
as butterflies gently pass by
and happiness bounces, abundantly
as high as the big blue sky

However, perfection would prevent us
from growing through the strife
and maybe being grateful
wouldn’t live in our life

So our heartbeats set the cadence
as we march with steps of brave
We find good in the clouds
as the road ahead we pave

Flight

Bald Eagle in mid-air flight over Homer Spit Kenai Peninsula Alaska Winter

Have you heard your inner voice
urging you on,
“You can do it, there you go,
one step at a time,
You’ll be great, You’ll do fine,
it’s never too late?”

If fear is holding you back,
break free with all your might
If you imagine failure
around the corner,
You’ve let yourself down,
You’ve lost sight

So take that baby step,
begin a new chapter
outside of your box,
to your goals be compliant
and don’t fret about
future stumbling blocks

Cause for celebration
isn’t only about the destination,

Winning the race means
fear has finished in last place
and Succeeding means
You have begun…

Friday Flora & Fun

In my last post, I mentioned that I’ve always loved taking photos. So I’m sharing some flowers for your Friday, though they are amateur. Currently, my only camera is my iPhone, which isn’t the best, but it works for me and is easy! 🙂 Along with the flora, I’ll add a little rhyming fun for this day and I hope you enjoy!

Today is great
for happy dancing and
jolly singing, too – ♫
not only for a Friday,
any day will surely do!

Precious Time Together

When we were young with no worries 024

Can we help in the kitchen?
Can we watch you cook?
I’d rather do this myself
then I stop and look
at the innocent faces

so eager to learn
selfish, no more,
it’s now their turn
Clothes will get dirty

dust will appear
chores never ending
that much is clear
So I say to them,

I’ll play and read books
I’ll teach you to be
great little cooks
For as you grow
and think of your Mother
Just know my love for you
is like no other

I wrote this years ago when my children were little
and spending time with them was far more important
than getting things done around the house.

I hope you’re leaving here with a smile and
I appreciate your visit. Have a wonderful weekend!

You don’t even know me…

hands

You avoid me and throw glares
your words hurt like a knife
There is more to you and me
than simply black and white

What are you against?
Is it my race?
My skin’s a different shade than yours,
what difference does it make?

Is it the style of my hair?
My mind is trying to guess.
Why must we stay at war,
don’t you like the way I dress?

Why should you care
who I give my heart to?
Through this barrier, there
needs to be a break through

You don’t know me
You see only my shell
I smile and cry just like you
I’m tired of living in this hell

Our heart’s rhythm is the same
but I can’t make you understand
You turn a deaf ear while
your hate holds the upper hand

(I wrote this years ago, but have now revised it.
It’s sad to think the issues of discrimination
still exist, but I will continue to pray
that someday, we will all live together in peace.
If, for some reason, we don’t agree, then at least,
we can “agree to disagree” without violence.)

Why Worry?

worried smiley face

What good does it do
except hang around
like super glue
causing nothing but
jitters in the belly
upsetting the gut

Your head’s a tornado
spinning
up a storm
Confusion
Concern
Anxiety
aren’t the norm

Emotions pour out
with implacable power
Oh, how you wish
the tempest would cower

What good does it do
besides make us blue?

By writing this doesn’t mean I never worry,
in fact, it seems there is more reason for it, lately.
But I think we all know it does no good.
So here’s to moving forward with Hope,
Faith and Optimism. 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by
and have a wonderful day! ♥

Language

I unlocked the cabinet
so your words could fall out
It’s not that I didn’t hear them
I was afraid to see
their meaning in your eyes
Who is the wise one?
Just as a butterfly is free
it’s your turn to fly and
no matter the language
you speak

I’ll still wonder why
our paths couldn’t align
Maybe my love
was too strong
and I pushed too hard
Could it be?

It’ll take time for my
emotions to settle
like dust on the shelf
until then
my sobbing will continue
to puncture the silence
