While sitting in this memory
my eyes begin to water
as my mind wanders through
the road together we traveled
but as tears fall, their love washes
over all that was unraveled
leaving a smile on my face
knowing his love and humor
will always leave a trace
for this moment and into my future
While sitting in this memory
I hold deeply in my heart
what once was of the man
whose presence I miss

Aww, thanks so much, Chris…I can’t imagine experiencing this so my heart aches for her and she inspired me to write this when she mentioned the first line. Thanks again and sending much love to you! xoxo
Beautiful, but sad.
Thanks, Binky! It is sad when we lose someone close to us…
Poignant but beautifully conveyed.
Thanks so much, Jean!
Tears, smiles, laughter and much more — Memories are so powerful and always emotional. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem, Lauren.
Much love,
-Naima
Aww, thanks for your beautiful comment, too, Naima…enjoy your weekend! Much love to you also!
Beautiful sad words Lauren, I sense memorys emerging in your words of love.
They can torment the mind especially when the heart has been torn asunder.
I wish you much beautiful love Lauren.
Kind regards
Ian
Thanks so much, Ian, for your loving comment. My friend lost her husband and from a conversation we had, I was inspired to write this for her…
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my friend…
beautiful and bittersweet poem, Lauren. love and hugs from across the pond †xx
Thanks so much, Francina. When we lose someone close to us, our memories are bound to be beautiful and bittersweet. Wishing you a lovely weekend, my friend and sending love and hugs back to you across the little blue pond. đ xo
Hold fast to your pleasant, sweet, bitter and bitter-sweet memories, Lauren; for ‘if memories fail, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly’ into such lofty poetic realms…best wishes… Raj.
What a lovely comment, Raj…this was actually written for a friend of mine whose husband had passed away…I love the phrase about “if memories fail,” so true and beautifully poetic…I hope your weekend is a wonderful and relaxing one..
Simply beautiful!
Thanks very much, Teri! I appreciate you stopping by!
Very touching lauren and a nice tribute to your friend. sending hugs, G
Aww, thank you, Geraldine! Sending much love and many hugs back to you! â„
Beautiful and very touching.
Thanks, Michelle! Enjoy your weekend! â„
A rather sad and at the same time positive poem. Memories most times put a sugar coating over the hurts of yesteryear and embellish the happy moments over time.
Very well said, Ian…the hurts will always be part of the past but can be overcome with all the happier memories. It’s like celebrating one’s life instead of mourning over the future life not lived…thank you always for your wonderful comments and have a blessed Sunday…
Awww, such a lovely poem! â€
Thanks, my friend…â„
Written so sweetly that I can experience your own sorrow and longing for lost loves just as you did your friend’s. xoxo. Have a beautiful week, my sweet.
Thanks for your lovely comment, Kathryn, and wishing you a wonderful week, too! xoxo
