Thank you for pulling me
into a tight embrace
allowing my mind to rest at last
my heart to beat at a slower pace
for tears to refrain from sliding fast
I needed this breathing space

Good poem. Nice rhymes.
Thanks so much, Joe! 🙂
A familiar feeling…
Sweet lyric sorrow. Beautiful, my dear Lauren.
Happy July! 🙂
A movie triggered some anguish, which I carried to bed with me and finally, I was able to fall asleep and forget. The next morning life looked brighter. Thanks so much, Marina, it’s funny how words can spring up in the middle of anything. Hugs for a Happy July to you, too, my friend…xo
So beautiful Lauren, and something Im sure we all need, that breathing space to then have strength for the next day. Just lovely. ❤️ Xx
Thanks, Chris, and you said it so well. I saw a movie Friday night, very good, but a tearjerker, which also hit a little close to home. I took those tears to bed with me and just felt that “no breathing” panic all over again. Fortunately, sleep did come not too long after and the next day, I was fine…sheesh! 🙂 ♥ xo
Its beautiful Lauren!
Thanks very much, Madhu!
Lovely! 🙂
Thank you, my friend! xx
Beautiful. 🙂
Thanks so much, Shian! Sleep also brings happiness! 🙂
When mind and body are tired – sleep is so therapeutic.
It definitely is, thanks for your added thoughts, Eric! Have a great day!
Yes, sleep perfect sleep!
Always a good thing! Thanks Jean!
Ahhhhh sleep can be so wonderful! Your poem expresses the comfort of sleep so well, dear Lauren xo
Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, Christy! I always appreciate hearing from you! Happy July, too! Hugs!
Happy July and hope you had a nice 4th, Lauren! I am inviting you to come along on the writing process blog tour! 🙂 Here is the link to find out more: http://poeticparfait.com/2014/07/05/writing-process-blog-tour-with-christy-birmingham/
Aww…thanks so much for including me in your tour, Christy, but I’m not able to participate right now. I’ve been invited by three other friends and have had to turn them down, too. There is a lot going on on the home-front and I honestly don’t have the time. I’ll also be leaving on vacation this coming Friday, which will take me away from blogging for almost two weeks. Anyway, I do appreciate it, so please know that…sending much love to you, my friend…xo
Hi Lauren, I understand. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and that you get time to relax soon 🙂
I love your rhymes and the last line, Lauren. Beautiful poem; it is elegant in its simplicity. xoxo
Aww…thanks so much, Angela, for your lovely comment. This came to me right after a movie triggered some sad thoughts and prevented me from sleeping right away. Finally, I drifted off, though, and the next day was brighter! 🙂 Hugs! xo
Sometimes sleep can bring some much needed relief.
It sure can, Binky! Thanks for your comment. It’s always nice to see you. 🙂
How lovely! I liked this, Lauren 🙂
Thanks so much, Miwako! This was a quick poem that came from one night of not being able to sleep right away. 🙂
Wishing you a good night sleep tonight 🙂
A topic we can all relate to. Well done!
Yes, sleep is beyond precious! Thanks so much, Ian!
good lines lauren . our lives are rounded off with sleep to wake up to bright God-given days….cheers…!
Thanks, Raja, and I love your optimistic perception and true words! Have a great day!
Just lovely, Lauren! Movies, music, and, of course, poetry can sometimes evoke emotions that don’t need explaining … but to be ‘allowed’ to do their ‘work’ on our souls. Big hug! XO ♥
Thanks again, Diane, whew, you’re making me work hard. Just kidding! 🙂 I always love your feedback and appreciate it dearly…yes, that movie was really good, but very sad and just hit home a little too close with our daughter’s situation…I appreciate the hugs, too! Lots of love to you, my friend, and I’m glad you liked this poem that was written in minutes. 🙂 xoxo
So beautiful. My friend, you are magical with words……… love it. Big hugs and always a prayer. ♥ Renee
Aww…thanks, Renee, for your beautiful words, too, which are a great end to my day! Hugs back and thanks for the continued prayers…♥ xo
You’re so welcome my friend. Enjoy your day. ♥
There is something cogent about this piece. It hugs into itself just as you speak of in the opening, the tightness rendering a solemn plea.
Lovely.
Thanks for your beautiful comment; this came to me after a movie triggered some things too close to home. It’s simplistic, yet real and I’m glad it has been well received. 🙂 Have a lovely weekend!
This made me smile. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I’m so glad; thank you for your nice comment and many visits. I’m back from vacation so will work on catching up a little 🙂
“tight embrace – breathing space” well connected opposites
Thanks, Carl!
