Make Time For…

Dancin’ down the street
sendin‘ good vibes to those you meet
for raisin’ your arms high in the air
and lettin’ the wind blow your hair
for smellin’ the flowers along the way
and thankin’ God for another day
for sharin’ a smile to a stranger you see
and in their eyes findin’ glee
for rollin’ down a hill of grass
feelin’ like a kid with class
for eatin’ ice cream in summer sun
for enjoyin’ life and livin’ and fun
for singin’ with raindrops
and puddle splashin’ in flip flops
for lots of laughin’ and tappin’
and huggin’ and lovin’

Undying Faith

We sat in cushioned pews, embraced by God’s love,
awestruck by the strength of her faith. Her words were
pillars of conviction. Her eyes never lost their luster
for His surrounding beauty. She moved gracefully
around the stage, as her voice was a hymn to our
saddened souls. Although her body was failing, she
wore elegance beautifully in the stylish cap. Her smile
permeated the sanctuary. Even so, we held back tears,
ready for pouring. God needed one more angel. He knew
her death would cause heartache for her devoted husband
and two lovely teens.  Yet, still He called her home.
She soon received her wings.

In honor of Friday,
but very happy that we’re both employed.

A wonderful reminder so profoundly written~

Are you skimming my life as you would a book—

a book that is an obligation,

not a chosen read?

Are my anecdotes only conversation starters for your stories—

priming for your ego pump gone dry?

Or are you listening?

Truly?

Are my tears and tales only inspiration for your personal production,

played out complete with swelling music and desperate soliloquies?

Am I illusory, fodder for your dreams,

but empty of transcendent worth,

part of a script where you are the only star?

Are you listening?

Honestly?

I am your friend, your neighbor, your brushed by acquaintance.

I am your mother, your daughter, your doctor, your teacher.

I am your pastor, your co-worker, your husband, your stranger.

And I have stories to tell and a lived life to share,

but it feels like I am redundant, unnecessary to your narcissistic screenplay.

I need to be heard.

Are you listening to…

Happy 21st Birthday to My Daughter ♥♥♥

You were a bundle of baby powder
so sweet smelling and cuddly
with rosy lips curved
into the perfect infant smile

that was only the beginning
of our hearts melting

Your beauty became more apparent,
not only on the outside, but on the inside, too
Your heart grew big enough
to share love around the world
You were an adorable little girl
Then within days,
You became a gorgeous young lady
ready to take on the world

You are the moon at it’s fullest,
pouring light over us
on the darkest night
and a country melody
just right for line dancing

You are the brightest sunflower
adding color to the garden of life
or the white stallion
prepared for any challenge that greets you

You are a dolphin,
gliding gently through life with grace
or shimmering sterling silver
Your soul never to tarnish

Our daughter, our creation from love
Now Twenty-one
“You’ve got the world by the tail,
Your Grandpa used to say
So move forward with passion
and make your own way

Our love for you is larger than life,
Mom and Dad
