The Kiss

Those bedroom eyes…
It’s in the stare
before the leaning
A little heavy breathing
Mesmerizing to the core
Sweet, in slow motion
An electric pull
Tingles stirring
to curling toes
Body heat rising
in a warm embrace
Roaming hands
Wildfires spreading
Melting beyond reason
Head spinning
Global tilting
Magically unforgettable
Blissfully memorable
Sinfully intoxicating
Simply delicious
When lips unite~

29 Years and Counting!

In honor of our 29th wedding anniversary, here is a poem I wrote years ago for my husband. Some of you may remember it…

box-with-red-bow

The Box

You placed it in my hands, adorned with a red bow
only a short clip of time had passed by our window

After pulling out tissue paper of white
I was entranced by the amazing sight

For inside was a lifetime together and
a house to be filled by the love we would gather

The walls stood bare waiting for memories to dress
showing reasons for us feeling truly blessed

The best gift of all, though, I am thrilled to say
was your heart at the bottom, committed to stay

(Over the years, some things have changed besides us getting older :). God Bless my husband’s mom and both of my parentsΒ as they rest in Heaven. And we hope forΒ  anotherΒ 29 years, so we can continue growing old together.) πŸ’•

Surrender

I wanted to get away, be a
chameleon, feel my
soul dance to some loud
tunes, sip on something
soothing and cool,

but I could feel your eyes,
just like before, when they
had the company of your lips
and hands. I didn’t want to
react to you again. My mind

was reeling as you willed me
to look your way. I ignored
the current. I wasn’t going to
be swayed by your gaze,
but I couldn’t disguise

the excitement inside.
My body was acting alone,
not listening to logic, but
needingΒ to fulfill the hunger
for you. So maybe I simplyΒ

stopped thinking too much,
or the musicΒ sent me into a
world of lust,Β for when you
tapped my shoulderΒ and I
looked up,Β I fell deep insideΒ

your pools of blue. There
was nothing I could do –
No one could save me,
not even You.

(a re-post from my first
collection of poetry,
New Day, New Dreams)

Motherhood

You are little now,
unable to understand
my deepest feelings

Emotions overwhelm me
when I hold you,
when I see your tiny lips
form your biggest smile,
when I hear you laugh
it’s a joyous melody,
when I hear you cry
it’s a heartbreak to bear

I want to protect you
but I’m not in control
Life will bring adventures
meant only for you –
I’ll have to let go

I’ll marvel, though, in each
new change as you grow

I may be your mommy now
but I’ll always be your
Mom
Loving you more each day
as time takes you away
so you can fly
and realize your
own life

(It seems like a hundred years agoΒ
when I wrote this, when I first
became a mom. It was the most
wonderful feeling. I felt like I was
walking on clouds. I still feel this
way even now that my kids are
in their twenties. They have been
the biggest miracle in my life, along
with my husband, and I’m beyond
grateful. I hope you enjoy these words
fromΒ
back when.) πŸ’•

The Season’s Spirit

Blue-Christmas-Ornament-Backgound-Vector-Graphic

Guilt overshadows the season’s joy
when others’ loss becomes prevalent
They wish for a miracle of healing
their spirits hang on a thread so delicate

When will the blood stop shedding?
What will keep mouths from starving?
Do you hear it where you are?
The noise of despair is jarring

Is it so simple to say a prayer
for their anguish to be calmed
for love to hug their weary souls
for all to feel a connected bond?

This season of Magic, Miracles, and Faith isn’t joyous for everyone; for many it’s a Blue Christmas. So, may the Spirit find itself embracing all people, but especially those who are dealing with stress or depression from tragedy, and may Peace weave its way into their hearts, minds, and lives. Let us remember the Vision of “Goodwill to All Men.”

I’ll be away from blogging through the holiday weekend, so I wish you all a Christmas filled with an abundance of Love, Joy, and Peace. And a Big “Thank You” to all of you – both old and new friends – for your continued support here on WP.

One December Evening

holding hands quote and photo 2014

I don’t know what other couples do, but my husband and I make it a point to remember those smaller events that led up to the wedding day, and today is one of them…our first date 30 years ago. We were 26 & 27 at the time, and we vividly remember that evening…the amazing restaurant for dinner, then driving up the mountain to The Baldy Lodge for dancing.

If you’ve followed me for awhile, you no doubt know that I’m a big hopeless romantic, and this night was definitely a magical one. During that evening of romance, we both experienced the incredible feeling that we might be “the one” for each other. That may sound silly, but…

As it turned out, we were “the one” for each other because six months following that night, he proposed. Then six months after that proposal, we were married. And here we are…grateful to still have each other and our two beautiful children, who are now 22 & 26 years old.

our wedding

This isn’t a post to brag though. We’ve experienced loss throughout our years together. So, we don’t take anything for granted because nothing is guaranteed. Instead, we cherish each moment of every day and continue to count our blessings.Β

So, I’m wishing my Husband and Best Friend a very Happy 30th-First-Date Anniversary!!

The Giver

He pulls me
into myself so
I may see
qualities
he loved from the beginning
though his perception

runs deeper –
mine, a hint of clouds
then he lifts
my heart and
soul to the brilliant sky where
our dreams become us
