Salt and Sand

boys-on-the-beach-lamarr-kramer

Gray, breezy day
with songs of the ocean
serenading
young children at play
with their imaginations

creating happy faces
and pancakes
in sandy surfaces

delighted to
collect seashells
and half broken
sand dollars

with a feeling of
great
accomplishment

(This beautiful painting by Lamarr Kramer
was found on Google and there’s nothing like the
innocence of children and the simplest things in life
that brings delight to them.
This was written from a memory with my son.)

R and R time :)

It’s time to say good-bye
but not for forever
It’s just time for vacation
nothing too clever

We’ve been counting the days
and it’s now quite exciting
 the time has finally come
which sounds so inviting

We’ll be playing in the sun
rafting on the river
boating, hiking, swimming
with maybe a little shiver

There are so many choices
and so much to do
be enticed by a massage
try golfing or rent a canoe

So I bid you farewell
for during this time
I’ll have no access for blogging
and it seems like a crime

I’ll be missing your posts
of great writing and art
and I’m sorry for that
from the bottom of my heart

Take care of YOU and I’ll see You
when I return. Hugs, Lauren ♥

A Gift to Ourselves

two-hands-holding-a-glowing-heartIf nothing makes sense
and your world seems upside down
teetering on the brink
of emotional upset
Be Kind

If angry feelings harbor
in your leaden heart
tie them to an anchor
let it drop
Be Free

If the force inside your being
is pushing you to the edge
gather strength to offer your hand
take one step back
Be There

A simple act
made effortlessly

will have a loving impact
Two souls will no longer
feel somber
Two hearts will no longer
be heavy

I’m not sure if this would be considered poetry,
but it’s something to think about
when our emotions are unbalanced.
Wishing you all a bright Monday. xo

Ideal

Beautiful Blooms June 2011 004

With a shy confession, I must admit
sometimes, I dream of perfection
where the road ahead is one of silk
and balance has no objection

Where answers dangle from the trees
as butterflies gently pass by
and happiness bounces, abundantly
as high as the big blue sky

However, perfection would prevent us
from growing through the strife
and maybe being grateful
wouldn’t live in our life

So our heartbeats set the cadence
as we march with steps of brave
We find good in the clouds
as the road ahead we pave

Flight

Bald Eagle in mid-air flight over Homer Spit Kenai Peninsula Alaska Winter

Have you heard your inner voice
urging you on,
“You can do it, there you go,
one step at a time,
You’ll be great, You’ll do fine,
it’s never too late?”

If fear is holding you back,
break free with all your might
If you imagine failure
around the corner,
You’ve let yourself down,
You’ve lost sight

So take that baby step,
begin a new chapter
outside of your box,
to your goals be compliant
and don’t fret about
future stumbling blocks

Cause for celebration
isn’t only about the destination,

Winning the race means
fear has finished in last place
and Succeeding means
You have begun…
