Welcome to my corner of this wonderful community where I share my poetry, short stories, and occasional photos. My husband and I have been married for almost thirty-five years, and we have two adult children. Our furry family member is Copper, an 80-lb chocolate lab mix, and he just turned 13 years old. I have published two collections of poetry: New Day, New Dreams (2013) and Finding a Balance (2015). My memoir, More than Coffee, was published in 2021, and my recent publication is a poetry collection titled Ever So Gently released in July. I have finished my first children’s book and am working with my illustrator with plans to publish in 2024. Love’s Appeal

I long to be your only star
within your sky of dreams
I ask you to open your heart
repair the broken seams
I apologize for words unsaid
for those said time and again
To hurt you is not my intention
I often wonder how you’ve been
I only wish to see you smile
hear you laugh among the trees
I only long to hold you close
feel your breath beside the breeze
Chances don’t come freely
I know this in my heart
My plea you’ll hear one more time
to keep us ne’er apart

Shifting Love

Our story began as friends
sharing goals for our futures
talking, listening and laughing
like brothers and sisters

Our time spent together
is priceless beyond words
moments we’ve cherished
letting down our guards

Then a revelation came
after seeing him last night
I saw the way he looked at me
and my heart took flight

Without any fair warning
something changed deep inside
I saw him in every tomorrow
until the end of time

Never do I want
our friendship to sever
Never have I felt
so much pressure

My thoughts are confused
My body, perplexed
What shall I do?
What happens next?

A Tribute to Moms ♥

Making everything perfect with her loving care

She’s an unselfish soul and always “there”

Under her wing is abundant warmth and comfort

She shelters with grace to avoid any hurt

Like a rose, her beauty shines forever

Unlike its lifespan, her love never withers

She exemplifies a rainbow, beauty of many colors

Bold for self confidence, pastel for helping others

She cares for people, before putting herself first

Her heart’s full of kindness, joyfully eager to burst

With a butterfly’s elegance, she floats from task to task

Her smile continues from early dawn to dusk

She’s a daughter, sister, lover and friend

A gentle spirit and shoulder unto the end

She’s an angel on earth; her spirit is divine

She’s a lovely blessing and truly one of a kind
