Young at Heart

grand pa

You’re never too old
for wind in your face
Just get out there and go
no matter your pace
It’s the freedom you feel
cruising down the street
whether in the front
or even backseat
It’s the feeling of youth
when time has passed you by
It’s the pleasure you feel
knowing you’ve tried
So don’t ever think
you’re too old to fly
Swing that leg over
and head for the sky!

My Dad had some New Year’s Day fun sitting on our scooter and pretending to ride, with the help of my hubby. Of course, if he did ride, he would have worn a helmet! My son edited the top photo, which turned out awesome and our family got a kick out of seeing Grandpa, at the Young age of 94, “cruising down the street!”
This only proves you can stay “Young at Heart!”

  1. To be or not to be: that’s the question
Whether is nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? (W. Shakespeare)

Youth is a state of mind. (G. Valerio)
Happy New Year to you and family.

  2. Lovely poem Lauren and what a wonderful image of your dad cruising!! He’s a great looking man and 94! He is quite amazing and definitely young at heart. You have made some fabulous memories over the new year.

    HBL ❤ xx

    1. Thanks, Chris, I think he looks great, too, and you’re right about the memories! I’ll convey your complement, but he may see it here, too. Have a great Monday! Back to work for me after two weeks off! HBL ♥ xo

  3. Thanks, Lauren for the beautiful poetry- and thanks to all your friends for their wonderful comments. Like I tell people- “I take one day at a time.” Luv Dad

    1. Thanks, Cynthia, he is pretty cute, isn’t he? 🙂 I know he appreciated all the nice things said here from you and everyone else. This was definitely fun. Sending you many hugs and blessings for this new year, as well! xoxo

  4. Lauren, this is awesome! I love how your skills keep growing as you sharpen them more and more with each post. Your son’s photoshop feels like life’s adventure can be experienced at any moment in one’s life. That breeze is so nice. The thrill is exhilarating, and the experience is unforgettable! Now THIS is what creates stories that can be told to generations to come.

Thanks again for this Lauren. Your dad’s a great role model. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, Tarisai! My son comes in handy, believe me! This was really fun for my Dad and his 3 daughters and I’m glad you enjoyed our experience, too. Thanks for all your kind words! Hope you are doing well and Happy New Year! 🙂

    1. Very true and Photoshop made this even more fun for my Dad, Diane. He really got a kick out of sitting on the scooter and pretending and then seeing this photo that Michael did was the icing on the cake. You’re right, we’re only as old as we feel and my age varies from day to day! 🙂 Hugs! xoxo

I appreciate your thoughts!
