Welcome to my corner of this wonderful community where I share my poetry, short stories, and occasional photos. My husband and I have been married for almost thirty-five years, and we have two adult children. Our furry family member is Copper, an 80-lb chocolate lab mix, and he just turned 13 years old. I have published two collections of poetry: New Day, New Dreams (2013) and Finding a Balance (2015). My memoir, More than Coffee, was published in 2021, and my recent publication is a poetry collection titled Ever So Gently released in July. I have finished my first children’s book and am working with my illustrator with plans to publish in 2024. Do you hear the music?
Isn’t this our song?
The night you held me closely
and I knew I belonged

Do you hear my heartbeat
so in sync with yours?
It’s amazing how well we’ve fit
throughout all these years

Do you know the spell you cast
when you look into my eyes?
My knees fall weak, my dreams are you
Your love makes me high

Our happiness and hills we’ve climbed
are tightly in our minds
They’re for the scrapbook we created
full of laughter and times we cried

I wish for twenty-four more,
of making memories with you
I wouldn’t be complete, My Love,
You’re my rock; My Love so true

Just when you think
all is worked out
A wrench is thrown in
creating new doubt

Your mind is befuddled
Your breathing sporadic
Bitterness comes a knockin’
Life becomes problematic

But don’t think you’re incapable
of crawling through the haze
Don’t think you’ve exhausted
all the feasible ways

Even though life’s been
a true humdinger
In your dark and sour mood
You must not linger

Get up, dust off
Stop your yammerin’
or you’ll start your family
and friends all a clamorin’

Does absolutely no good
to frequently niggle, so
when you’re feelin’ down,
form a grin and try a giggle!

(This is an oldie
from February of last year,
but I thought we all could use
a smile today! )

New Beginnings

Turn the pages from the past
Put your worries in last place
In those fretting times
where hope has vanished
search for a caring embrace

Use a shoulder if it’s offered
when tears begin to fall
They’re not a sign of weakness
but a cleansing of the soul

Take advantage of the sunshine
warming your spirit with it’s rays
  and even when the clouds are rolling
there’s always reason for praise

Faith, Love and Strength
follow Hope in each new day
and with each precious baby step
You will find your way

The Cards We’re Dealt

We sail through life smoothly
until a wave knocks us down
with no means for escaping
no turning around or backing away
We’re still caught in the aftermath
of that dismal day

The best move is to dive in head first
We may get hurt
where our emotions could run so wild
that our souls would be fully drained
from the collision of shock,
new found pain

Where tears could fall so long and hard
that face muscles would begin to dance
and our happiness would be scarred

Our only choice then,
is to move forward
We must learn to deal
the hand we’re dealt
and consent to acceptance

With weeping more infrequent
and the embracing of strength
Our eyes will open to the light and follow
allowing Hope and Faith
to enter our hearts once again

I Loved You

I loved you not too long ago
My heart gently placed you
on a pedestal
You remained there
and could do no wrong
How beautifully we belonged

Then the pavement cracked
and I found myself
straddling both sides
trying to decide which was right
watching where my heartbeat landed

My mind was stranded
somewhere in the middle
where nothing made sense
and two and two made five

I was alive
but my time was up
I had to choose
and lose a part of me

Though forever
our love didn’t last
you will always
be a vision from my past

Maybe down the road
our lives might chance to mingle
and we could feel that hold
Just a slight tingle again

Sending Warm Holiday Wishes ♥

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

It’s been three months since I’ve blogged
and I’ve missed you all! 
This acrostic poem is from last year,
but the meaning is just as sincere.
Some of you know why I’ve been absent and for now,
things are stable, but I’m still unsure about returning
to blogland. However, I couldn’t let this year end
without sending my sincere holiday wishes.
So, I wish for you Love, Peace, Hope and Miracles
this Christmas season and not only in the New Year to come,
but for forever~

Blogging Break and Prayers Needed

My family has received some life altering news
that we’re still trying to process and therefore,
