I’m over you completely
Where once was a sweetness
that entranced your heart
now lies a bitter taste
keeping us apart
and no, I don’t crave
your feather kisses
your warm embraces
or your slow, soft touches
that bring delicious tingles
and you don’t hold my mind
captive each and every day
in every moment I’m awake
or star in my dreams
creating an emotional ache
Of course, I don’t need you,
like the air I breathe
in each day to survive
You can be sure
I’m doing just fine

Bwahahaha! I read this without the picture and all I could think was chocolate!!!
Too funny, Red! Yes, dear chocolate has that effect on us! 🙂 Hugs!
oh the convincing self part….we try and try and try to make our mind understand but the heart wont take it,….
that image ..I going to have a chocobar right now.. 😆
Exactly, Soma, you understand what I’m conveying and don’t we wish the mind and heart would work together! 🙂 Hope you enjoyed that chocolate bar! Love and hugs to ya!
Tell it sister! 😉
Thanks, Joe! 🙂
Beautifully done, and the image was great!
Thanks so much, Wendell!
Oh Lauren, I love this! Whether a chocolate craving or craving for a lost love I have been there, pretending not to be!!
❤ HBL XX
Thanks, Chris, and I love how you understood what the craving is all about, too! I’ve been there, also, pretending not to be! So very true! HBL ♥ xoxo
I’m having chocolate ice cream and chocolate syrup after dinner. 🙂
Beautifully written, Lauren!
Send you love and hugs…and no chocolates. 😉 🙂 xoxo
Why not just have it FOR dinner, Deb? Haha! Hope you enjoyed and thank you for your kind words, always! And yes, chocolate! 🙂 xoxox
Beautiful poem, Lauren – so many of us can relate to this, whether it’s chocolate, or a lost love. Love it (and the picture is delectable)! ~ Love and hugs from Julie xoxox
Aww…thanks, Julie, and I’m glad you, too, understood the true meaning of craving..chocolate does make a decadent simile, doesn’t it? Lots of love and hugs to you, also! xoxo
Speaking from experience as one who used to actually go as far as to ‘sleep with’ chocolate under my pillow for emergency purposes, it really does take some time and a lot of determination to reach that place! Congrats to you! 🙂
You’re too funny Charlene and I actually wrote this about a lost love, using chocolate as a simile..a very delicious one…and no, I will never give it up. Everything in moderation! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!
This is so beautiful, love your talent with words…
Thanks very much, Brooke’s Sister! I appreciate your kindness!
Mmmmmmmm Choc… o… late!
Glad you enjoyed, Martin! Always happy to oblige! 🙂
Chocolate or man – or both maybe!? That really works well Lauren! I’m over the man, but not completely the chocolate!! 😀
Could be both, right? Thanks so much, Suzy, and I’m glad you’re over the man. And I’ll never be over chocolate; that is a never ending craving with occasional indulgences! 🙂
I swear I woke up today feeling like these 20 lines. Oh Lauren, Lauren 😦
Lay off the raw baker’s chocolate; don’t give in to temptation on the first few dates; carry gum wrappers in your pockets during the day and put crackers wrappers under your pillow at night; then, maybe, you could rekindle a friendship with it. 😀
Sounds like great advice, Steve, thanks! 🙂
Those cravings are not always good for us – but sometimes the heart and the tastebuds beg to differ! Lovely poem. XO
You said it so well, Diane, thank you so much, my friend! xoxo (it’s too bad they do differ, at times) 🙂
Very powerful ~ I loved this Lauren… chocolate and men 🙂 looks yummy too – not sure i could resist that part – I’m a pushover in some ways I guess…
Thanks, Robyn, and what could be better than chocolate and men? 🙂 I can be a pushover, too! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! Hugs!
