Craving

chocolate

I’m over you completely
Where once was a sweetness
that entranced your heart
now lies a bitter taste
keeping us apart

and no, I don’t crave
your feather kisses
your warm embraces
or your slow, soft touches
that bring delicious tingles

and you don’t hold my mind
captive each and every day
in every moment I’m awake
or star in my dreams
creating an emotional ache

Of course, I don’t need you,
like the air I breathe
in each day to survive

You can be sure
I’m doing just fine

    1. Exactly, Soma, you understand what I’m conveying and don’t we wish the mind and heart would work together! 🙂 Hope you enjoyed that chocolate bar! Love and hugs to ya!

  1. I’m having chocolate ice cream and chocolate syrup after dinner. 🙂
    Beautifully written, Lauren!
Send you love and hugs…and no chocolates. 😉 🙂 xoxo

Beautiful poem, Lauren – so many of us can relate to this, whether it’s chocolate, or a lost love. Love it (and the picture is delectable)! ~ Love and hugs from Julie xoxox

    1. Aww…thanks, Julie, and I’m glad you, too, understood the true meaning of craving..chocolate does make a decadent simile, doesn’t it? Lots of love and hugs to you, also! xoxo

  3. Speaking from experience as one who used to actually go as far as to ‘sleep with’ chocolate under my pillow for emergency purposes, it really does take some time and a lot of determination to reach that place! Congrats to you! 🙂

    1. You’re too funny Charlene and I actually wrote this about a lost love, using chocolate as a simile..a very delicious one…and no, I will never give it up. Everything in moderation! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!

    1. Could be both, right? Thanks so much, Suzy, and I’m glad you’re over the man. And I’ll never be over chocolate; that is a never ending craving with occasional indulgences! 🙂

  4. Lay off the raw baker’s chocolate; don’t give in to temptation on the first few dates; carry gum wrappers in your pockets during the day and put crackers wrappers under your pillow at night; then, maybe, you could rekindle a friendship with it. 😀

  5. Very powerful ~ I loved this Lauren… chocolate and men 🙂 looks yummy too – not sure i could resist that part – I’m a pushover in some ways I guess…
