Author: Lauren Scott, Author
Welcome to my corner of this wonderful community where I share my poetry, short stories, and occasional photos. My husband and I have been married for almost thirty-five years, and we have two adult children. Our furry family member is Copper, an 80-lb chocolate lab mix, and he just turned 13 years old.
I have published two collections of poetry: New Day, New Dreams (2013) and Finding a Balance (2015). My memoir, More than Coffee, was published in 2021, and my recent publication is a poetry collection titled Ever So Gently released in July.
I have finished my first children’s book and am working with my illustrator with plans to publish in 2024.
When you visit, I hope you find something to take with you, but that you also find something enticing enough to keep bringing you back. I truly appreciate your visit.
Cheers,
Lauren ❤️
Scrabble Soup
First you need a thought,
nothing fancy
and it can’t be bought,
then add a spoonful of emotion.
There’s no magical potion,
although, I have a notion
you could include humor.
According to rumor,
laughter’s the best medicine.
It always has been.
Yet, contrary to giggles,
start some tears flowing
with a dash of melancholy,
or if you’d rather be jolly,
Don’t be coy,
Sprinkle in some joy.
Now, to spice up your mixture
(I think you get the picture)
toss in some melody
with your favored tempo
and let your feet dance.
Feel the rhythm and
give romance a chance.
This is where you improvise
(write between the lines).
Follow your feelings.
Close your eyes,
peel off your disguise.
This is your recipe and vision.
Follow your bliss
and for a final touch,
Seal it with a kiss!

(sharing another oldie)
🙂
Surrender
I wanted to get away, be a
chameleon, feel my
soul dance to some loud
tunes, sip on something
soothing and cool,
but I could feel your eyes,
just like before, when they
had the company of your lips
and hands. I didn’t want to
react to you again. My mind
was reeling as you willed me
to look your way. I ignored
the current. I wasn’t going to
be swayed by your gaze,
but I couldn’t disguise
the excitement inside.
My body was acting alone,
not listening to logic, but needing
to fulfill the hunger for you,
so maybe I simply stopped
thinking too much, or the music
sent me into a world of lust,
for when you tapped my shoulder
and I looked up,
I fell deep inside your
pools of blue, there was
nothing I could do
no one
could save me, not even
You.

Blooms Here and There
I’m not a professional photographer, so please go easy on me 🙂
and since our camera needs replacing, I’ve been using my iPhone.
Anyway, the rose is in our yard, but the other flowers I came across
while taking Copper, our lab, for his daily walks.
I don’t always take my phone, but when I do,
there’s always something
I’d love to remember in photo form.
I’m not even sure I can choose a favorite.
I love them all and this happens to show
more of pinks and purples,
but I also love the vivid reds, oranges and yellows.
Sounds like a future blog post? Maybe…
Anyway, what is your favorite?
I hope you enjoyed this little bit of flora
and feel free to take some beauty
with you to begin your weekend. ♥
Copper’s Beach Adventure
Copper and stick both “in flight”
Looking for that stick and enjoying the water, too!
Copper had a fun time at the beach yesterday.
He loved chasing the stick,
then trying to find it in the water.
He was also happy running
up and down the beach
with some other canine friends.
It’s definitely a blast watching him play!
(my third child) 🙂
I hope we all take time to “play”
in the midst of our busy lives.
Soak in some sun and sand
or breathe in mountain air,
Just don’t forget to Breathe and Enjoy Life!
Sending hugs for a great day! ♥

In-Between Life (repost)
A quiet interlude of two consenting minds
connecting in desired agreement
A gentle kiss becoming decadent
bodies embracing, passion flaring
the baring of equally loving souls
Each giving to fulfillment
breathless whispers
over the moon ending
descending into
anticipation
for the next
lovely
rendezvous

Some of you may remember this and
if you do, I hope you didn’t mind reading it again. ♥
Saturday – Acrostic
Sunrise calls early, an
alarm, golden, intense
tickling with its rays, sending an
undercurrent to venture outside and
renew spirits with beauty surrounding,
diving into soothing ocean’s song,
abandoning heavy burdens in mind,
yesterday becoming today’s gift

ENJOY YOUR DAY! ♥
