Missing Piece

Though glowing rays
warm my window panes
I function in a daze
my nights remain cloudy
I dream only in grays
and when I reach for your hand
feeling only the sheets
my heart shatters once again
adding another piece

to the pile in my mind
of brokenness from the past
promises flowing
down the river
crashing with a splash
I miss your eyes
how they touched
deep into my soul
and how your loving words
made my heart whole

 but I’ll find worthiness
on a dusty shelf
and lying beside it
will be the strength I seek
for even without your love
I won’t remain weak

this is a very beautiful and sad piece Lauren, I enjoyed reading and could feel the mixture of pain and longing in your words…the last line “I won’t remain weak” was one I particularly enjoyed because of the hope for the future it infers

  2. These four lines are exquisite, Lauren:

    but I’ll find worthiness
    on a dusty shelf
    and lying beside it
will be the strength I seek

.. beautifully and poignantly written. xxx

    1. Thanks, Angela! I wanted to add hope and strength at the end for this one. Love can’t be all about sadness when it’s lost, can it? We somehow find strength to move forward…sending hugs!

  3. Your words hold depth of understanding- you took your reader within the mind as they reached out across the bed only to realise the ache of loneliness in the absence of their love…….

beautifully written and I am also happy to read it is only fiction.. 🙂 and not a fact..

Many thanks for visiting and for following Dreamwalker’s.. I may not get around to comment as often as I would like, but be sure your words will be read ..
    You have a wonderful gift..
    Blessings sent your way.. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, Sue, for your wonderful comment and visit! And yes, it’s fiction, as I’m happily going on 25 years of marriage with the hubby! But, I’m sure we all can relate to these words at sometime in our life…And no worries about visiting; I’ll be grateful whenever you have the time. I fall behind often, so please bear with me, as well! Sending you blessings, too! 🙂

    1. Aww..thanks very much for your kind words, visit and follow! I hope you continue to enjoy and I’m following you, as well, and look forward to perusing your blog again soon! Take care! 🙂

  4. Life. I sense grief and pain . . .but lots of strength! and hope. That’ll take you quite a ways. and time will work with you for the rest. Prayers.

Thank you for your comment on my poem today and for visiting. You hold much in your heart to put down in words. Will be looking for your posts. Nice to meet you!

    1. Thanks so much, Jeanne, for your visit and prayers, but just so you know, this poem is completely fiction. Maybe it wasn’t before I was married, but it definitely is now, so no worries! 🙂

My hubby and I are getting real close to 25 years and are still very happy, so thanks for your concern and lovely comment. Thanks also for following me and I hope you continue to enjoy. I look forward to reading more of your beautiful writing, too!

It’s also very nice to meet you and see you soon! 🙂
