Perspective of a Yamaha Guitar

I wish the long haul
would’ve been in your heart.
My strings and your fingers
would’ve collaborated well, I could tell.
You learned the chords, major and minor,
your strumming had improved,
and your voice, smooth as honey.
I had faith in you.

Then another passion stole your hours…
writing, and I understand,
I really do. And yet, it’s just me
sitting in this corner of the room.
Most of the time, I don’t mind.
It can feel cozy and warm
when the sun rises high in the sky,
bringing light. But after sunset,
darkness creeps in,
giving me chills of loneliness.

Now and then, you dust me off
and that’s when I feel joy
in my body and fretboard –
the soft touch of a cloth,
so comforting.
I feel hope in each string
that you’ll gently pull me out
of my black case
and hold me in your arms…

to hear a verse, bridge, or melody,
to immerse our souls
into the notes that hold meaning…

but you simply wipe away the particles
that have landed
and walk out, leaving me
to ponder the mysteries
of humans. A painful task, I might add.

Hope never fades though
because I know songs
have always been a part of you,
so you’ll see, someday, you and me,
and music makes three.

Baby steps are good!

This past Christmas, Santa brought me an inspirational journal with some coloring options. I haven’t owned a coloring book in decades, probably since my youth. Maybe I joined in the fun with my kids when they were young. I honestly don’t remember. Anyway, I thought I would give it a try because it sounded relaxing. Well, after the strawberries came to life, my neck began to bark at me. Who knew that coloring could be tough on the body! I sat at the table with my head down, all concentration geared towards keeping the red within the lines. I suppose with any activity, some part of our body will begin to bark sooner or later. So, baby steps, right?

For any goal we set, we begin by taking baby steps. No one starts out at the top. Everyone finds their starting point at the bottom then the climb begins until the destination is reached. This doesn’t mean we won’t stumble, but we will press on. So, I’ll return to this beautiful image, and soon the blooms and leaves will come alive in their wardrobes of oranges, yellows, purples, pinks, and greens. One small step at a time.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for dropping in to my little corner of blogland! ❤️

Other Worlds

Wealth comes in many
fabulous shapes…

Hardbacks, paperbacks,
they sit on the shelves,
waiting patiently
for their pages to be turned,
the simple, blissful touch,
but some rest with elation
knowing their stories
and poetic thoughts
have been liberated,
pages dog-eared for
another reading,
the words having
touched a chord.
Seams of the bookcase
stretch like stitches
in too-tight jeans.
The bookcase itself
bulges like a belly satisfied
from a hearty meal.
I feel excitement of a child
wandering through a toy store
when I peruse new
for the shelves…
Is it fair to own so many
captivating adventures
and poetic musings?
Quiet moments await
for me to immerse
into those other worlds…

Riding with the Wind

It’s freedom, fun, and magical
as tires hum on the road.
A wave of a hand
befits the two-wheel code.
It’s like joining a club
without knowing the named.

The camaraderie –
instantly proclaimed.

There’s no razzle dazzle
of plugging in.
Tuning in to the elements

comes from within.
It’s a taste of adventure
letting the wind guide.
It’s a feeling of joy
that cannot be denied.

Let us journey among redwoods,
seacoast and rolling hills,
drawing in breaths
and exhilarating thrills
.

Blooms

She tended
to their elegance
her babies
in a sense
they breathed in her tender touch
they miss her presence

Blog Talk, Friendships & A Cuppa :)

coffee

I feel like talking and I hope you don’t mind getting that favorite “cuppa” and relaxing here for a little bit.
I’m reminiscing about how this blog was born and maybe you’ll do the same, thinking about yours. This is my third year now and I really can’t believe three years have passed. I thought by now I would have moved onto something else. Well, the truth is, I enjoy it. I love writing poetry, sharing it here and receiving feedback. Recently, I’ve had a little fun sharing photos, as well. By all means, I’m not a professional photographer, but I’ve always loved photography, taking photos and viewing them.

Circle_of_friends_with_earthAnother aspect of blogging is meeting people. I’ve made new friends from all over the world and from various parts of the U.S. and it’s amazing how we can talk and connect right here like we’re five minutes apart. Throughout these three years, a circle of blogging friends has been created and honestly, they feel more like family. I would assume most of you feel the same way if you’ve blogged for awhile.

I had never thought of blogging until after seeing the movie, “Julie & Julia” with Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. julie_and_julia-jonathan-wenkWhat an awesome movie and story, starring two of my favorite actresses. Anyway, I’m so thankful my son, especially, but also my hubby and daughter, nudged me into starting this blog. Through this journey, I’ve shared my emotions, made friends and checked off one more item from my bucket list by self publishing my first collection of poetry. This was a big accomplishment and then to have others purchase copies of my book…WOW, just WOW! What a humbling experience!

I’d like to say that all of you have been a big part of my life. Your support, love and friendship has meant the world to me. Some of you have been with me from the start, have read some of my earlier work (oh my gosh) and have seen my writing evolve. I feel it has, even though there is so much more for me to learn.

hugs
We may never meet in person, but in this crazy, virtual world, we have come to support each other in our writing endeavors and through our life journeys, mixed with smiles and tears. I’m repeating myself, but I say “Thank You” once again, for making my blogging experience the best it can be for me! Your visits and comments have given me the encouragement to continue on this path.

turning 50This “blogging hobby” began soon after I turned the Big Five-O; it was something different, fun, exciting and a Giant step out of the comfort box. So I plan to carry on, looking forward to the road ahead and I’m truly blessed with such great company!
