Happy 1 Year Adoption Anniversary, Copper ♥ Limerick

Copper has been a great addition to our family
and it took less than minutes for him to melt our hearts.
He’s strong and has tested us, but he is so loving,
that we’re still amazed at how he acts and the things he does.

There once was a strong chocolate lab
his loving ways were simply fab
His color was unique
here are photos for a peek
his personality was far from drab

007

He loves chewing on his nylabones
and they’re the strongest to endure his choppers!

One of his favorite pastimes, besides watching squirrels
in the tree-house, is sunbathing!

Copper’s 2nd Birthday Limerick Trilogy ♥

I.

There once was a dog named Copper
He had pearly whites in his chopper
but harmless was he
Wouldn’t harm a bee
His eyes were big heart stoppers

II.

Six months ago, we brought him home
and watched him while he roamed
He sniffed around
without a sound
then laid down with his bone

III.

His new home is his comfort zone
You wouldn’t believe how he’s grown
More like a horse
threw us off course
but how would we have known?

We’re very lucky to have adopted another wonderful dog.
Copper is a great addition to our family and
he’s a big lovable baby!

These are first attempts at writing limericks.
I hope you enjoyed.  They’re fun, but challenging.
🙂

Endurance

We race with the hands
of the clock on the wall

usually in last place

like a slow, dragging crawl

 Everything must be now
instant gratification

when we should slow down

and feel appreciation

 Maybe what we’re waiting for
isn’t meant to be

It’s all in the timing

and not all about “we”

 If you’re a believer
it’s really up to Him

and what His plan entails

not just our personal whim

So exhale a little slower
demonstrate some tolerance

It’ll all come together

with just a bit of patience

Photo is of Copper on our recent hike.
He was so patient, waiting for me
to take some pictures~

Childhood Cabin Haiku

Behind the dark boards
a roaring fire warmed us

those days long ago

 Generations played
cards; ante up, fifteen cents

while lasagna baked

 The haunted cabin
around the corner scared us

entering our dreams

A snow packed staircase
made it easy for our dog
A view from the roof

I have fond memories of our cabin
from my childhood.

It wasn’t fancy or huge, but very, very cozy.
The best of times were spent playing games indoors,
hiking, tobogganing and sledding.
The last time I saw it, the windows were boarded
and I don’t have any old photos.
It was sad to see it that way,
but it’s good to have the wonderful memories
in mind of our fun mountain get-a-ways
that included
family and friends.  ♥
