Early New Year Wishes :)

There were…
high points to this year
low points to bear
tears to dry
from reasons to cry
lessons to learn by
adventures to try
demons to fight
wrongs to right
resolutions completed
some deleted
but looking back
we see the impact
another year of living
the gift of existing
So accelerate in high gear
no invite for fear
Pour the bubbles
forget your troubles
Clink and Chime
Celebrate Big Time!

One year later, I share this poem again
with sincere wishes of a wonderful, joyful,
productive 2015 for you all
and a safe celebration for ringing in the New Year!

Waiting for Santa

Magic fills the air tonight; Rudolph leads the way
as they’ll land on the roof in the big, glorious sleigh

Her enthusiasm is charming; she’s bursting with glee
making cookies for Santa to set by the tree

It sparkles with colors, all shiny and bright
with tinsel and popcorn and lights of white

She sets the cookies where he won’t miss them
with a bowl of carrots so the reindeer can have some

As darkness arrives, her bedtime is near
inside her heart, she’s holding great cheer

With one eye open, she’s too excited to sleep
but slumber prevails so she hears not a peep

She rises with the sun, joyfully wiggling
waking her parents with constant giggling

They enter the room to find many surprises,
gifts hugging their tree in all different sizes

She was thrilled to see only cookie crumbs lie
and the carrots were eaten by reindeer in the sky

Their tree was so pretty, standing tall and proud
She hugged Mommy and Daddy and thanked Santa out loud

May we all experience the magic of this Holiday Season
with childlike excitement~

Our Time

Maybe we found love at the right moment in our lives
the clouds were formed perfectly; the planets were aligned
The sun rose brightly just for us over green hills beyond
the birds shared a lovely chorus with the sun at dawn

I can’t imagine how life would be without your smile
the joy it provides carries me for a million miles
And when I hear your laugh, you have me laughing, too,
and there is no resisting your magnetic baby blues

My mind wondered off and on if true love would ever find me
many moments were wasted with unnecessary worry
Then when I couldn’t prepare, love took me by surprise
after being held in your arms and one look in your eyes

I pray we get the chance, hand in hand, to grow old together
rocking on our cute front porch through any kind of weather
At sunrise, I only wish to feel your warmth and see your loving face
and I know it was meant to be for us to share life’s wonderful embrace

I Ask This of You

There are times when I’ve failed you
allowing my worried mind to guide
Being led deep into the darkness
where fear would reveal its ugly head

I wish to undo negative thoughts
and faithless feelings in my heart
for I am ashamed of my weakness
where tears are mine to shed

I know you walk with me in
each day that I take a new breath
When I see the sun rise once again
I’m in awe of your loving grace

Though uncertainty lies on the path ahead
I’m not chained to these dismal ways
Will you cast forgiveness upon my soul?
With renewed trust, I hope it’s not too late

Only Words

You say “I love you,” a recipe of letters
that could stir up a magical moment,
but they’re only empty air bubbles,
meaning nothing without the alliance of
actions and yours are lacking. My heart
will bend, but it won’t break. I’ll always
remember those sweet moments of tender
kisses and hand holding, unforgettable
nights and mornings of loving each other,
but the fun has vanished like water droplets
on a summer-kissed sidewalk. I’ll be fine in my
own company, yet, if by chance somewhere
beyond this storm, another love finds his way
into my arms, they’ll be open to letting his
charms lead me home. You had your ending;
now I embrace my beginning. Who can say when,
but I’d be willing to fall in love all over again.

All I Can Say

Nonsensical Dreams (Sonnet)

Dear Friends,

This is only a practice Sonnet and for someone who writes about romance quite often (if you know me), a love Sonnet just wouldn’t work this time. So I incorporated one of my husband’s dreams and one of mine and created this. I mainly focused on Sonnet rules, rather than an enticing subject, so your feedback or critiquing is welcomed. If you notice any bloopers, don’t be shy, let me know. I’m learning, as this is a new adventure and of course, I hope this brings a smile, too!

Nonsensical Dreams (Sonnet)

Upon the hill resides a house so great,
Around each corner, hallways run for miles,
The rooms alone are like the size of lakes,
The space indeed creates a million smiles.

Inside its walls roam creatures of all kinds,
From lemurs to giraffes as tall as skies,
The scene itself completely redefines,
What should be truly isn’t all the time.

But just as quick as grins begin to form,
Fear takes their place abounding all around,
Cold sweats and shivers enter like a storm,
As spiders creep, the heart begins to pound.

Yet, as the sun begins to show its light,
Relief sets in erasing all the fright.

Love’s Decree

my foundation shifts
like a gentle quake

Tenderly
you stir my soul
as a whirlwind
out of control

With you
I travel
the road to bliss
my heart’s content
a love so real
