Ringing in 2012!

It’s no surprise 365 days
have come and gone
in the blink of an eye
We wonder and ponder over time spent
and how it went so fast
Some days passed at a snail’s pace
but we seem to race the clock
on the good ‘ol days

If you believe in resolutions,
though, this is no substitution,
Let’s write a new creed…
Enjoy each day to its fullest
not thinking about tomorrow
Don’t borrow the future
Embrace the present
and repent, if you must
Learn to trust more often
Allow a new door to open
and relationships to deepen

Of course, this is a recurring creed,
yet, it fits for each year,
Don’t you agree?
So, let’s try again, My Friends,
with champagne, clinking glasses
and celebrations in the masses
No matter your new goal
Let the New Year roll in
with Smiles, Aspirations,
Hope and Inspiration~

Cheers and Happy New Year, Everyone!

Final Post for 2011…Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! :)

Hello Everyone,

It’s time to say “farewell” for only a short time,
as the holiday festivities begin.
We are hosting, then visiting family out of town,
so computer time will be limited.
After the new year, I will do my best to play “catch up” with
posts and awards, but please have patience~  🙂

So…here’s another Christmas, Holiday wish to each and every one of you.
May your holidays be filled with peace, love and joy!
I can’t say “farewell” without saying “thank you” for all your comments, likes and recognitions.
This poetry blog has become more than I ever thought it would be,

all because of you!

Warm wishes, hugs and a safe, Happy New Year
and I’ll see you in 2012!

Seven “X” Seven Link Award

This took me by surprise, but I’m very appreciative of my nomination from two wonderful friends, Autumn & Gabby, http://autumnsunshineandgabrielleangel.wordpress.com/.  Thank you both again!  Your poetry and stories add magic to my life, create more smiles and laughter, even some tears, but it has been truly wonderful getting to know you two awesome twins!

As with most Blog Awards on WordPress there are stipulations that must be met upon acceptance of the coveted award. So, with the 7X7 Link Award the first thing you have to do is tell something about yourself that nobody knows.  Hmmm…

This is something I really don’t think about anymore, since I’m well over toddler’s age 🙂 but, I do have a vertical scar on my forehead, about an inch long.  It appeared after cracking my forehead open when I was around 2 years old, after running right into the corner of two walls! Ouch!  Who knows what I was thinking, other than obviously not watching where I was going, while running around, having fun.  I don’t have any other memories (a good thing), but I pretty much have worn bangs all my life.  I’m more comfortable with them and maybe,  just maybe they cover the scar, a little.  🙂

Now comes the 7X7 links to my pieces I feel are worthy to link up:
(more stipulations to the award)

Most Beautiful Piece:  http://lscotthoughts.com/2011/12/11/cloud-9/

Most Helpful: http://lscotthoughts.com/2011/10/13/flight-2/

Most Popular: http://lscotthoughts.com/2011/12/14/im-perfection/

Most Controversial:  I don’t believe I’ve written any controversial…

Most Surprisingly Successful:http://lscotthoughts.com/2011/12/07/scrabble-soup/

Most Underrated: http://lscotthoughts.com/2011/09/22/untitled/ (this is actually entitled “Unknown”)
I wrote this to honor my son’s friend who took his own life at the precious age of 14~

Most Pride Worthy:  http://lscotthoughts.com/2011/10/23/rewarding/

Next step to the 7X7 Award fulfillment is to nominate 7 bloggers (in no specific order) who I feel deserve the honor and hopefully haven’t already received it.  If you have already received this, please forgive me…I just had to…! 🙂  Additionally, to choose only a few from the many wonderful blogs I’ve come to know is a very difficult task.  The blogs below are simply wonderful; they have moved me by their words of art and photography, so I do hope you visit them soon.  There are also many, many others I truly love, who have inspired and touched me, as well.

Congratulations to all of you, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

May this holiday find you smiling

Enjoying priceless times with loved ones

Rejoicing in the birth of our Dear Savior

Realizing your blessings and finding peace

Yearning for the Holy birthday of the year

Caring for others who need their spirits lifted

Hosting family and friends in cozy get-togethers

Remembering, any act of kindness is truly a gift

Imagining the festive spirit throughout the New Year

Seeing the delight and wonder through a child’s eyes

Taking time and letting God’s loving light shine through you

Making magical moments that will turn into precious memories

Allowing yourself tranquility in the midst of the seasonal chaos

Silently saying a prayer for those who are in need of God’s healing grace

KREATIV BLOGGER AWARD

To begin with, I would like to thank
http://caddoveil.wordpress.com/, http://autumnsunshineandgabrielleangel.wordpress.com/ and
http://versenotprose.wordpress.com/
for nominating me!

Being nominated once is humbling enough,
but three times is beyond comprehension!

All I can say is I am truly thankful and grateful for this recognition and
for these three wonderful blogs I’ve had the privilege of reading
and the awesome bloggers I’ve had the privilege of getting to know!

Thank you, again!

The award requires me to a) tell you ten things you may not know about me and
to b) nominate six or more other bloggers.

Here we go…

1) I am finally able to pet other dogs without breaking down (our dog died last month).

2) I drive a gold Honda CRV and I love it!

3) I love the mountains and hope to live there someday.

4) Although, I’m also a country girl, so living on a ranch with many, many, many dogs and animals, is a dream.

5) I used to love watching Home Improvement with Tim Allen and was sorry it ended.

6) I never colored my hair until this year, after turning 50, but it’s highlighted and looks natural, which is what I wanted.

7) I am very emotional (tears of joy, sadness, anger, etc)…I have more water than the water company! 🙂

8)  I didn’t finish college.  😦

9)  I share the same dream with many of you, to publish a book of poetry.

10)  When I was younger, singing was my passion.

And now here are my nominees, in no specific order:

http://everedwater.wordpress.com/

http://granbee.wordpress.com/about/

http://chicpress.wordpress.com/

http://thenaughtypoet.wordpress.com/

http://rajkishoremaity.wordpress.com/

This list is truly infinite, however, I do encourage you to visit these blogs…you’ll find lovely words, beautiful images, inspiration and a melody of emotions.

Congratulations to all the nominees and Merry Christmas!

Waiting for Santa

Magic fills the air tonight
Rudolph leads the way
They’ll land on the roof
in the big, glorious sleigh

Her excitement is charming
She’s bursting with glee
and making cookies for him,
helping her wonderful Mommy

The tree is all ready
It sparkles with beauty
He’ll be so happy to see it
It’ll be his favorite, definitely

She sets the cookie plate
where he surely won’t miss them
and she doesn’t forget the carrots
so the reindeer can have some

Now darkness arrives
She hears, “Off to bed you go”
Her heart feels so alive
with excitement, it’s all aglow

She falls asleep, one eye open
One ear perks up as she intently listens
but slumber prevails as her eyelids start drooping
She dreams of the stars and how they all glisten

In the morning, sunshine pushes through
She pops out of bed, joyfully wiggling,
Waking her parents up to tell them
She can’t stop from giggling

They enter the room; it’s so simply stunning
With surrounding gifts, their tree stands proud
She hugs mommy and daddy
And says “thank you” to Santa out loud

May we all share the Christmas magic of a child’s heart~

Magical News

Hello Everyone,

On November 30th, I reposted “Misty” because I
was feeling overwhelmed from a heavy weight on my family’s shoulders.
We’ve recently received the wonderful news that what we were fearing,
isn’t going to occur.  Not only do we feel “lighter” but we are extremely grateful
for this news, especially during this joyful season.
I want to thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts.
You’ll never know just how much they meant…
Today, I have no new poem, however,
I believe this calls for the repost of “Elation”
from December 11th~

I wish you all a very magical Friday!
Lauren

Singing with the birds
outside the window
Belting out the words
in the acoustical shower
in or out of tune

Dancing barefoot
on the blanket of grass
Flying beside the butterflies
Humming with the buzz
of the bumble bees

Floating with the stars
Riding the Milky Way to Mars
Swinging on the moon
from one crescent
to the next

What a world of bliss
if we could all experience
this magical happiness
