Welcome to my corner of this wonderful community where I share my poetry, short stories, and occasional photos. My husband and I have been married for almost thirty-five years, and we have two adult children. Our furry family member is Copper, an 80-lb chocolate lab mix, and he just turned 13 years old. I have published two collections of poetry: New Day, New Dreams (2013) and Finding a Balance (2015). My memoir, More than Coffee, was published in 2021, and my recent publication is a poetry collection titled Ever So Gently released in July. I have finished my first children’s book and am working with my illustrator with plans to publish in 2024. Facelift

Dear Friends,

After four years of blogging, I am ready for a transformation. So if all goes smoothly and WordPress doesn’t throw a wrench in my plans 🙂 my blog name will change to ‘Baydreamer’ today. For those of you who know me well, I’m sure you’ll realize where this name came from. The content of LScott Poetry will remain the same though. Also, I’ve recently done some remodeling to a new blog theme. This “makeover” is a fresh beginning to a new season and a continuation on this journey of writing, reading, and of course, meeting new friends. Thanks again for all your dedicated support to my blog.

In honor of our daughter’s university graduation, I found this quote, which I thought was perfect for today’s festivities and celebrations. The gorgeous photo is from my good friend, Sabrina.

Our daughter has persevered not only academically but also personally and today she’ll walk across the finish line with a Bachelor’s Degree in hand. To say we’re proud doesn’t even cover all the emotions. 🙂

Daydreamer

Does the summer breeze
carry thoughts of me to you?

Not again and then some!

Do you have a family member or friend who is constantly taking photos? Do you have moments when you just don’t want to be the subject? I do, I have and I’ve been the guilty one clicking away.
Copper’s been in our family for over three years now and I think we’ve taken about a million photos of him (slight exaggeration). But for those of you who own pets, don’t you agree there can never be too many pictures of our furry friends?
I took the first three when he had better things to do (like chew on his bone). However, he complied but not without attitude. 🙂 He weighs about 74 lbs, is tall and lean and all muscle, which is why this first photo makes me smile. In the photos following, you’ll see his true self.

Deepest Emotion

Whether love works or whether it doesn’t
Whether timing is on or whether it isn’t
Love simply is
It seeps into our minds
and weaves into our hearts
Every sense is aware of its presence
We can feel it, hear it, say it, taste it
Try as we might to escape,
we’re captured with intensity
never felt before
Sometimes life guides us to letting go
but in the midst of elation, we hold on
and allow our hearts to soar
