Does your heart try
to please every soul
turn frowns upside down
dry tears and console
Do your eyes see the good
in everything around
in every person you pass
on the streets in your town
If the answer is yes
then you’re quite the friend
you have an abundance of love
to share again and again
Yet, you’re also at risk
to having your heart broken
because not all will agree
with your words spoken
So you do your best
for the common good
and hope all your loving actions
are truly understood

Kindness – a weakness and strength, as strength can be weakness, and weakness can be strength
Very, very true, Eric, thanks for sharing and for stopping by! Hugz!
Better to risk the broken heart. 🙂
Wonderful words of love and kindness, Lauren, and as always, very well written. 🙂

I agree, Deb, and thanks so much for your kindness, too! Love n many hugs back to you! ♥
Hi Lauren. I hope this one works!
For me, this isall about balance.
While it is, of course, good to be kind, and I like to think I am, there was a time when I was a terrible people pleaser to my detriment. This went deep and I think was about my lack of self worth and lack of confidence. I simply wanted everyone like me. I had no idea back then that kindness extends to ourselves too.
Now I think the balance has been restored, if not all the time, most of it and I am able at last to put myself irst when it is appropriate.
HBL ❤ xxx
Hi Chris, your comment came through, but my comments are messed up; need to figure this out! Anyway, I totally understand how you feel and have been there before, too. You’re right, it’s all about balance and I’m glad yours has been restored! HBL ♥ xo
Doing for the common good ! We try our best.. Lovely heartfelt words… ~Sue

Beautiful and true, as always. xoxo
Thanks, Sheila! Hope you are well! xoxo
The words in this poem are so true. Those with the biggest hearts have more to be broken.
Thanks, Alastair, for visiting and yes, I agree, too. But, I would rather risk a broken heart, wouldn’t you? 🙂
Yes I would. I would prefer to help people and to make them smile and be hurt than the alternative
Me, too, thanks so much for your comment and for stopping by! 🙂
You’re welcome. Thanks for coming by mine
Reading Kindness brought to mind unconditional love and forgiveness, doing what is right because it is the right thing to do–can’t always please everybody, but I know God is smiling! Susie
Exactly, Sis, and it looks like you’re doing a little blog catching up! 🙂 Thanks! xoxo
