FREEWAY MADNESS HOLIDAY HAIKU TRILOGY

These were written for fun, but, honestly,
holiday travel can be a bit daunting,
even though we love road trips!
Hope you enjoy! 🙂

I. OBSERVATION

Driving or flying?
Benefit of tailgating?
Reckless road traveled

II. CONSTRUCTIVE CHANGES

More Innovation
Eco friendly progression
Helping Mother Earth

III. NIGHT ROLLING

Black sky surrounding
Red eyes watching us closely
Keeping our distance

Final Post for 2011…Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! :)

Hello Everyone,

It’s time to say “farewell” for only a short time,
as the holiday festivities begin.
We are hosting, then visiting family out of town,
so computer time will be limited.
After the new year, I will do my best to play “catch up” with
posts and awards, but please have patience~  🙂

So…here’s another Christmas, Holiday wish to each and every one of you.
May your holidays be filled with peace, love and joy!
I can’t say “farewell” without saying “thank you” for all your comments, likes and recognitions.
This poetry blog has become more than I ever thought it would be,

all because of you!

Warm wishes, hugs and a safe, Happy New Year
and I’ll see you in 2012!

Lauren

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

May this holiday find you smiling

Enjoying priceless times with loved ones

Rejoicing in the birth of our Dear Savior

Realizing your blessings and finding peace

Yearning for the Holy birthday of the year

Caring for others who need their spirits lifted

Hosting family and friends in cozy get-togethers

Remembering, any act of kindness is truly a gift

Imagining the festive spirit throughout the New Year

Seeing the delight and wonder through a child’s eyes

Taking time and letting God’s loving light shine through you

Making magical moments that will turn into precious memories

Allowing yourself tranquility in the midst of the seasonal chaos

Silently saying a prayer for those who are in need of God’s healing grace

Waiting for Santa

Magic fills the air tonight
Rudolph leads the way
They’ll land on the roof
in the big, glorious sleigh

Her excitement is charming
She’s bursting with glee
and making cookies for him,
helping her wonderful Mommy

The tree is all ready
It sparkles with beauty
He’ll be so happy to see it
It’ll be his favorite, definitely

She sets the cookie plate
where he surely won’t miss them
and she doesn’t forget the carrots
so the reindeer can have some

Now darkness arrives
She hears, “Off to bed you go”
Her heart feels so alive
with excitement, it’s all aglow

She falls asleep, one eye open
One ear perks up as she intently listens
but slumber prevails as her eyelids start drooping
She dreams of the stars and how they all glisten

In the morning, sunshine pushes through
She pops out of bed, joyfully wiggling,
Waking her parents up to tell them
She can’t stop from giggling

They enter the room; it’s so simply stunning
With surrounding gifts, their tree stands proud
She hugs mommy and daddy
And says “thank you” to Santa out loud

May we all share the Christmas magic of a child’s heart~

Joyful Melancholy

Christmas carols accompany as I wander
through the stores, pondering carefully,
so I may give to those, whom I love dearly,
during this joyful holiday season

I hear beautiful, amazing grace in the lyrics
and I wish for my soul to be at peace
Then I think of those whose lives
are filled with pain and tears commence

Guilt overcomes me, as I feel grateful
for the many blessings I’ve been given
How can I feel content when others are hungry,
hoping for a roof to cover their aching hearts?

It isn’t fair others are hurting while we top the tree
with our treasured angel and throw on the tinsel
It isn’t fair they cry for help to come their way
While we roll out the dough and make festive cookies

There is no balance of these confusing emotions
So, what must be the answer to comfort…
to stop the blood from shedding and
the tears from falling, to end the starving?

By showing we care, we silently say our prayers
for those who struggle in their everyday lives
May love hug their souls to heal their wounds and
May their strife be entwined with a whirlwind of serenity

Sharing a little Gratitude and Thanksgiving Wishes :)

I’m thankful for
my parents, who brought me
into this world
They had two lovely daughters
Then another little girl
They’ve lived into their nineties
Seen new changes along the way
Each day, I think of them
Each day, for them, I pray

I’m thankful for
my husband, I’m the lucky one
for all he does for me
for how he shares his heart
and gives of himself so lovingly

I’m thankful for
my children, my daughter and my son
for who they’ve grown to be
for their love and compassion
they give so generously

I’m thankful for
all those unmentioned, they know who they are
and for my loving dog who passed
She’ll be our forever star…

for sight, so I may see
all of God’s creation
for sound,  so I may hear “I Love You”
with tremendous elation

and last, but not forgettable
for all of you
my friends in the blogging world
May your Thanksgiving be
absolutely wonderful!

Hugs and Blessings
Lauren

FALL FLAVORS

A season beginning
Leaves changing into beautiful shades
Colors so amazing they leave you breathless
A time of reflecting
Saying I love you to those who matter
Giving unconditional hugs to those in need

Sharing a meal, chatting and laughing
Surreal moments to warm our hearts
Showing we care by helping others
Waking to another day of possibilities

Smiling to lift those troubled spirits
Hoping for another chance to
smell the spices.
