This weekend and every day, we think of our fathers, Richard and Wil, and brother-in-law, Jerry, who aren’t with us anymore. We miss them so much, but they will always live in our hearts. And we celebrate the backpacker in the photo who loves his daughter and son and wife more than anything. He’s endured some bumps in the road but with us by his side for support, he feels like he’s won the lottery. Besides spending time with his family, he’d rather be hiking on a mountain, relaxing by a lake, or riding a motorcycle. His heart is kind and he tries to see the good in everyone. Even after 37 years, I still get lost in his blue eyes and can’t believe how lucky I am to share my life with him. ❤️

So, Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads around the globe who do their best to be the best for their children!
By the way, DNA doesn’t make a good father. Actions speak louder than words. A biological father who neglects his children isn’t a good dad. A great father is a man who is emotionally available and actively involved in his child’s life.
“The greatest gift a father could give to his children is his time.”
Enjoy your weekend and celebrations, and Thanks for stopping by! ❤️

Thanks, Darlene, and exactly! Have a good weekend! 💖
((( ❤ )))
❤️❤️❤️🌷
This is such a beautiful tribute. I especially loved your reminder that being a father is about far more than DNA, it’s about love, presence, sacrifice, and showing up day after day. The love and admiration you have for your husband shines through every word, and after 37 years, still getting lost in his blue eyes is a testimony to a marriage that has been blessed.
Aww, thanks so much for your beautiful and thoughtful words, Willie. My sister and brother-in-law adopted their sons, so the DNA and father opinion is close to home. And I appreciate your kind words about our marriage too. Have a blessed weekend and celebration!
Thank you 🤗
A wonderful tribute! You are so right about DNA not making on an automatic father. I love what you said about your hubby’s blue eyes and how you can still get lost in them. That’s what real love looks like!
Thanks so much for your lovely words, Jan. I’m glad this post resonated in more ways than one. 🙂 Have a great weekend! 💖
Great tribute, and equally heart warming daughter’s remembrance of her father..🙌
Thanks so much, Raj! I’m glad you enjoyed this tribute. Have a wonderful day!
This is a lovely post, Lauren. I am making beef Wellington tomorrow and trifle for desert.
Thanks, Robbie, and your dinner sounds delicious! 🥰
Beautiful, Lauren. ❤️
Thanks, Tina! 💕
My dad was a big believer in this: “The greatest gift a father could give to his children is his time.” Happy Father’s Day to the fathers in your life!
Time is the best gift, Liz, thanks! I’m glad this resonated with you and I wish you the same!
You’re welcome, Lauren!
Nothing like a good father. Hope the men in your life feel appreciated, Lauren.
Exactly, Mary, and they do! Wishing you the same!
A beautiful tribute Lauren. And you’re so right, the title father has so many different meanings. What matters is the father who is there for his kids through the ups and downs, good and bad. To me . . . that’s a father.
Thanks, Brian, and I’m glad the definition of a good father resonate with you. I agree with what you said too. Just ‘being there’ is most important.
Happy Father’s Day!
Have a beautiful fathers day weekend Lauren! ❤
Thanks so much, Carol Anne! Hugs 💖
That is a beautiful tribute to your husband and your fathers and brother-in-law no longer with you. I love the photo with the backpacker, which I assume is your husband.
Thanks for your kind words, Thomas, and yes, that’s my husband overlooking Loon Lake in the Sierra Mountains. Have a wonderful day!
That is great. Have a wonderful day you too.
Wonderful tribute
Thanks, Ian! Have a wonderful Father’s Day!
Anyone can make a baby; it’s a select few who can be a terrific dad. My son and family are arriving tomorrow, so that’s the best present for Father’s Day.
Exactly, Pete, and have a wonderful time with your son and family! Thanks for stopping by!
Beautiful tribute Lauren ❤️💖❤️
Thanks so much, my friend! Hugs ❤️🌷❤️
My pleasure always Lauren.
Hugs to you my friend 😘❤️🙏
What a lovely tribute for Father’s Day! And so true “A great father is a man who is emotionally available and actively involved in his child’s life.”. 💕
Thanks for your lovely words, Eugi! My sister and her husband adopted their sons, so that quote is personal. And the same goes for moms. 💖
You’re most welcome, Lauren. 💐
So perfect, Lauren! ❤️😉❤️
Thanks, Vicki! I’m glad you enjoyed this post, and I hope your hubby had a great weekend! Hugs 🥰🌷💖
Awww! Thank you – and yes! Xo dear Lauren!!! ❤️😉❤️
I think just quietly sitting there in the middle of everything else and it says more about your marriage than a whole essay could. The DNA line needed to be said and I’m glad you said it. A title doesn’t make someone a dad. Showing up does. Being present does. That’s it really.
Hope the weekend was everything it needed to be. 💕
Your comments are always so thoughtful, Ritish. Thank you! The DNA line is personal since my sister and brother-in-law adopted their two sons. And my hubby had a wonderful weekend.
Thanks again, and have a terrific Tuesday! ❤️
A nice reflection for Father’s Day.
Thanks, Binky!

wow – this is deeply touching and beautiful!
Thanks so much for your kind words!
Lauren, such beautiful sentiments expressed on Father’s Day! I have missed a lot of posts here and elsewhere, but with apologies, I am doing my best to get on track. Life, work, a new website, and so many other things have been an overload. Needless to say, I have dearly missed your writings here; you restore our faith in life, reflecting on the many things that make life so happy, so caring, and so well worth living. I truly miss my parents too!
Hi Don, thanks so much for your wonderful comment. Don’t worry about missing posts. I’m blogging less this year because I’m working on other projects and can’t do it all. So, I’m missing posts too. Anyway, I’m glad this resonated with you, and I’m sure we both have great memories of our parents. Take good care!
This is such a loving post, Lauren. Your tribute to your dad, FIL is beautiful. And the one to your hubby is a pure celebration of love. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for your lovely words, Smitha. I’m so glad you enjoyed this tribute. 🩷
Hi Smitha, I tried commenting on your blog but I’m not able to. So, I’ll try again later. It could be the connection. 🙂
Hi Lauren, please try again. I’d like to make sure there is no issue on my side. Xxx
