Autumn shows her true colors in Wine Country

View from Char Vale Winery deck

We spent last weekend in Wine Country, specifically visiting our favorite boutique winery, Char Vale Vineyards. Our experiences at Char Vale have been so wonderful that we became members. So last weekend, our plan was to pick up the bottles of wine that we had ordered. But as members, we were offered complimentary wine tasting. The owner and staff always go the extra mile, and the setting is magical. On this visit, the one and only winemaker, Justin, came out to meet us, and we chatted for almost a half hour. It was interesting to learn more about the process. We also love this time of year, so watching the wardrobe of Autumn unfold was stunning, to say the least. Golden hues, oranges, reds…warm and cozy vibes. I hope you enjoy the photos…

Early Sunday morning.

Are you surprised that I became inspired to write? 🙂 I hope you enjoy these haiku…

(1)

harvest has ended
as season of fall arrives
field of golden hues

(2)

blue sky stretches to
infinity as we sip
notes of pear and peach

(3)

autumn parades her
golden gown through ten acres
blue sky umbrella

(4)

process continues
when leaves gently pirouette
lovely vines bare all

The weekend was beautiful beyond words, and now raindrops dance on our roof. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I wish you a wonderful day! If you found a favorite photo or haiku, let me know in the comments! 🧡❤️🍁

    1. Thanks, Darlene! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos and the haiku. And I appreciate you pointing out your favorite. 🙂 I think the trees are Japanese Maple but I’m not positive. My husband is a tree expert, so I’ll check with him and get back to you. I love the burgundy red leaves too. The colors are just stunning. ❤️🧡🍁

      1. I’ll have to try it … but when I hear there prices, I’ll head to the lake I’m sure. I have my favs for sure.. but we’ll talk or meet … Check out Gregory Grahm (winemaker for Rombauer before ), Chase water and Thorn Hill. If you go without me, I’ll set you up and you can stay at my house there. xo

  1. Wonderful photos, Lauren, it surely looks like your weekend was perfect, so beautiful… sunny and blue! Haiku Number 2 is my favorite, could almost feel the infinity of the blue and the fragrance of the fine fruit flavors… a splendid sip of sweetly scented serenity 💖💙

  2. What a beautiful winery and I can see why you’d continue to return. We have wineries in northern Michigan now and I love visiting. Beautiful haiku to go with your fall pics –

    1. Thanks so much, Maggie! We kept saying how stunning the scenery was. 🙂 And the weather was perfect, which made the experience even better. Thanks for sharing your favorite haiku too. It’s always fun to see which ones resonate. I’m glad you enjoyed this post, my friend! Hugs and love to you! ❤️🍁🧡

  3. Marvelous haikus and photos, Lauren. My wife is more of the wine drinker in the family. My sister-in-law (now retired) used to be a winery manager at Domaine Carneros Winery in Napa. The views overlooking the vineyards from far above are impressive.

  4. I used to enjoy visiting the Napa Valley to see my children who settled there for a while. It was always a joy to return to SFO airport in the early morning and see all those colourful hot air balloons in the air.

  5. The colors are wonderful Lauren! Glad you enjoyed such a special time in this beautiful place. And well done for the poetry too – the second one is my favorite. We can feel the pleasure and it’s a bit like we were with you on this special moment.

Sending you hugs and kisses for a great week to come ✨🧡✨🧡

  6. I am totally not surprised you were inspired to write.

You went somewhere beautiful, and saw nature in her finest.

Love the pics and love the poems. Thank you, Lauren!
