A Fine Discovery

Sitting on the shore
feeling inconsequential
in its vast presence,
the surface sparkles
like a rare jewel
just discovered

Dragonflies entertain
like tiny jets
Damselflies with their
blue, iridescent wings
gracefully flit about
relatives by nature

Tiny threads of peace
weave into the marrow
of our souls

A great fortune
to play a part with nature
in this moment of existence –
to discover such a gem

    1. Thanks so much, Marina! That huge sigh is always warranted when we spend time with nature, especially in this spot. It’s truly magical. Hugs and love for a wonderful Friday, my friend. ❤️💝❤️

    1. This lake is magical, Miriam. We hike from a lower lake after camping, and it’s a 4.5 mile hike up to 6,700 elevation. You can’t help but have a peaceful, wonderful time at both lakes. Nature never disappoints. Thank you for your kind words. ❤️

  1. HI Lauren, this is a beautiful poem. I also love lakes and dragonflies. I was surprised when I learned that dragonflies are the most ancient of all insects and evolved 300 million years ago. Incredible.

    1. Thank you, Robbie. You’d love this lake; it’s truly magical, and we get there after a 4.5 mile hike up. We backpack and stay a few nights. The lower lake is also gorgeous and that’s where we camp. These are the destinations that sparked inspiration for some stories in my book. That’s incredible about dragonflies, something I didn’t know.

    Honey,
    Beautiful. Well said.
There’s nothing like soaking up that mountain fineness and swimming in the pristine water.

    1. I agree, Sue, they are magical and so is this lake. 🙂 You’d love it, too, because of the nature lover you are…Thanks so much for your beautiful words, my friend. xoxo

  3. Such a beautiful poem about nature, Lauren. And wonderful photos as well. Love how you mentioned that ‘the surface sparkles…like a rare jewel’. It’s always a treat to see clear skies and blue waters on a lovely day. Beautiful sunset captured there too. Keep enjoying your time outdoors 🙂

    1. Hi Mabel, thanks for your beautiful comment. I’m glad you enjoyed this tribute to nature. This lake is one of our favorites and you have to backpack to it, but it’s so worth it. I agree with you that it’s such a treat to see clear skies and blue waters on a lovely day. Thanks again for stopping by and have a good weekend. 🌻

      1. You are welcome, Lauren. Good on you for backpacking to the lake. You deserved the beautiful nature and views. Have a wonderful week ahead 🙂
