When the sun dips behind tears
and hope goes underground,
all seems adrift – despair
soars high above the clouds,
obliterating any dreams
hovering in their softness.
Waves of misery crash down.
The burden feels too taxing
to lug around for long,
and yet, we choose to slog on –
heavy in mind, body, and spirit.
But in that dark corner of hope,
a dim light glistens in the shadows.
Those ominous shapes transform
into bright colors of optimism
where hope unveils its abilities and
the mindset slowly begins to shift.

A beautiful tribute to the human desire to find hope. Nicely done, Lauren.
Thanks for your kind comment, Mark! We need to remember that light keeps glowing even though dim at times. Have a great weekend!
Hope can get us through an awful lot.
Hope is what it takes, Binky. If we lose all hope then we lose motivation to move forward. Thanks for stopping by and have a good weekend!
A beautiful poem about despair and hope, Lauren. I think it’s in our nature to hope even when things are bleak. π
Thanks, Diana, and I agree with you. π By the way, your book is on its way. Have a great weekend! π

Diana, I am perusing Amazon and what a surprise! Thank you SO much for such a beautiful review for New Day, New Dreams, and for taking the time to write reviews for both of my books. Sorry it took so long for me to read it. Anyway, I appreciate your comments as you are an amazing writer. Thanks again for the 5 stars! βοΈ π

Oh, thanks again, Diana. I’m definitely sounding like a broken record! π As to my book, the editing is ongoing. But I think I’m getting closer to the finish line. I’m heading over to your blog now. π

Great poem, Lauren, depicting how often we fall for the dark and stumble.
Hope and light is truly the gifts that will show the way.
I do like this part of your poem:
βThe burden feels too taxing
to lug around for long,
and yet, we choose to slog on β
heavy in mind, body, and spirit.β
What about if we put those burdens down when possible and walk on … or even around. π.
Miriam
Thanks, Miriam, for your lovely words. And I agree with letting go of those burdens, walking on. π May your weekend be full of light, love, and laughter! ππ₯°

Iβm sure this poem resonates with many, Debby. I was βin a moodβ when I wrote it, but Iβm fine. Thank you. Hope youβre doing okay too. Hugs back to you! ππ
