A Turning of the Page

June 9, 2020

This past Tuesday, my husband and I
watched our daughter and fiance
exchange personally written vows
before saying, “I do.”
Their words were eloquent
and brought tears to our eyes.
The uniqueness of this ceremony
was the Zoom factor!
They have been together for 9 years
and engaged for almost 2.
Then came Covid-19 to disrupt everything.
Original plans had to be canceled,
and they decided to wait
for when large gatherings
could resume again.

After 3 months and many conversations,
they reached the same conclusion:
they just wanted to be married.
So, pressing pause for months
or even another year seemed senseless.

With the blessings of family and friends,
they pulled off a Zoom wedding
from Tennessee!
The ceremony was beautiful
and we joined in
from California
with no technological glitches.
We couldn’t be happier.
Was it ideal?
No, but they are now Mr. & Mrs.
and that’s what matters most.

When we get the green light
to throw a party, there will be
a big reception and replay
of their wedding vows.
So we can’t wait for that
exciting event!

It was refreshing to celebrate such a joyful occasion that gave us reason to “clink our glasses” and something positive to smile about.

Congratulations,
Steph and Ryan!
We love you!

Thank you so much Mom! I’m glad Ryan and I could give our families something positive to smile about! Cannot wait for a celebration next year with everyone whom we hold dear ❤️❤️

    1. You’re right, Janis, and Zoom helped make it happen for them. 🙂 Who would’ve thought, but it worked out and we’re so happy. Thank you for the wonderful wishes! ❤

  2. Oh how wonderful Lauren… So happy for your daughter and new Son in law…. what a special day… And so happy everything went so well….
Wishing them every happiness for a long and loving union of bliss.. 🙂 💕

    1. Thanks for your joyful comment and wishes, Sue. It’s been a week today, hard to believe! Who would’ve thought? But like you said, we’re just happy and relieved all went smoothly. Technology comes in handy for some things. 🙂 Sending love and hugs, my friend. xo

      1. I have no qualms about Technology when used for the right reasons that unite and enhance peoples lives.. Its Technology that inhibits and controls I object to 🙂
It was a real pleasure in sharing your daughters Joy… I have come across several posts where weddings were cancelled.. So I am pleased they went ahead..
Much love and Happiness to you all ❤

    1. Thanks so much, Andrew, and that’s how we felt, too. Why wait after all these years? And who knows when big groups will be safe again to get together. Have a good day!

    1. Thanks, Diana, and we can’t wait for the big party and to be able to see them, but until then, this was fun and such a happy event to celebrate during these times. Today, they’ve been married a week! 🙂 💗

  3. Congratulations to the happy couple, and to all the families involved! How great is modern technology at a time like this. Such wonderful news, Lauren. Glad they went ahead instead of waiting any longer. 🤗❤💐💐💐💐

    1. Thanks, Betty! Modern technology is good for some things. 😉 We never would’ve imagined…but it’s all good and glad the ceremony went smoothly. And we’re glad they didn’t wait. The future is so unknown and after they’ve been together for so long, it didn’t make sense to wait. Sending love and hugs! 🎉💗🎉💗

  4. Awww… how wonderful Lauren! What matters is that they fulfilled their heart’s wish and they are happy. May they make eachother’s day fuller and joyful as the years go by. Many hugs and love! xoxoxoxo

  5. How wonderful, Lauren! This will be a marriage ceremony you will always remember. Congratulations to all of you and I hope you get to have your in-person celebration soon! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Barbara, and you’re right about that. I told Steph that their big day is the beginning of a memorable and joyful story. We can’t wait for the party, but we also want to be safe. So Facetime and Zoom have been good to us for now. But we do miss seeing them. 💕💕

  6. Congratulations Lauren, to you and yours. So many have had to make a decision with booked weddings. My step-grandson just announced cancelling their early September wedding because how can you plan when you don’t know if it can happen. Good for your kids ❤

    1. Thanks, Debby, and sorry to hear about your step-grandson’s plans, too. That’s the boat Steph and Ryan were in. They found a venue, but then came Covid and the pause button was pressed. And who knows when things will change? So, we’re happy with their decision, and today, it’s already been one week of married bliss! 😉 Maybe your kids will try a different alternative, too?? 💗🎉💗🎉

      1. That’s wonderful Lauren. After long deliberations they decided to bump it up a year. They’d already bought a house last fall and moved in, so it’s not as though they haven’t already begun their lives together. 🙂 ❤

      2. Oh, I’m jealous! Our salons aren’t open yet and I’m in dire need of low-lights and a bang trim. Feeling a bit shaggy here. 🙂 Enjoy! And I appreciate your visits, Debby. 😍💗🌼

      3. Lol, I’ve done a few ‘homemade’ bang trims and cropping of my own top layers. DON’T ASK! LOL. Thankfully, I color my own hair, so that wasn’t an issue. My city, Toronto, is not yet opened, but they’ve opened up in some of the suburbs, and as luck would have it, that’s where my stylist is! Woohoo! ❤

Congratulations to Steph and Ryan and thank you for sharing your family’s happiness, Lauren. ❤ to you all, always. Xx

    1. Thanks, Jane, for your lovely wishes and I will pass them along to the newlyweds! It’s been one week today! 😉 Time flies! Hope you’re doing well in your new home, too. Sending much love.. 💝💝💝

  8. Congratulations to all! I’m sure you’re looking forward to when you can all be together and celebrate! I wish Steph and Ryan a lifetime of happiness together. Love and hugs to all. 💞💞💞

    1. Thanks, Michelle, and yes, we can’t wait to be together, but the way things look, that may not happen for a while. I almost think 2020 can be written off in that regard. Sad, but it is what it is, and everyone staying safe and healthy is most important. Thank you for your wonderful wishes that I will pass along to the kids. 🙂 Love and hugs right back atcha! 💗💗💗

  9. YAYAYAY!!!
Congratulations to the happy couple and all around!!!!

Love and Blessings dear Lauren.. ❤ Much love your way 💚🙏

    1. Wow, you have been busy, Sue, and I am touched, knowing that you’re not blogging that much these days. So, thank you, my friend. And yes, the couple will be married one month tomorrow. 🙂 All is good, but we do look forward to a big celebration when Covid has left the building. I appreciate what you said about my longer writes, too, because they are what I’ve been focusing on more these days. Once in a while a poem will evolve, but reminiscing has me writing more. Thanks again, my friend, for your loooong visit today. Stay well and happy and I’m blessed with your friendship. 💚💙💜🧡

I appreciate your thoughts!
