Altitude

Not
a sound
can
be heard,
except
the wind’s
whisper
through the
evergreens
and an
occasional
chirp

Peace
flows
through
my
veins,
masking
any sliver
of concern
holding
me
in
chains

Fragrance
renews all
senses,
shifting my
state
of
mind,
releasing
any
tension

Gratitude
embodies
my heart,
with
my love
beside
me –
mesmerized
by
lakeside
beauty
and the
melody
of silence

Under the Redwood Tree

Under the redwood tree
a bee dives low
for the water…
heads go under

Arms and legs
move with grace –
we look up to the
bright blue sky
with a touch of white

Two crows speak
as if we understand
their urgency…
silence soon becomes them

Under the redwood tree
we breathe in serenity –
Lacing our fingers
we steal a kiss
and reminisce
to those earlier days

New Beginning

The first day of spring
has come and gone
and only a speck
of sun has shown

Instead, tears fall
from the sky at dawn
and leaves remain
windblown

(For those of you who read my previous post,
you’ll know that poetry inspiration has been nil.
These words recently came to me though, and I
hope you enjoy.)

Checking in

Dear Friends,

It’s been over three months since I’ve been in blogland, and I’m still unsure of my plans. But I wanted to say “hello” and see how you’re doing. I’ve been busy in school, taking another English class and writing a lot. However, I haven’t written poetry since I left for my blog break. Inspiration has been scarce, but hopefully I’ll find some soon. Anyway, I hope the new year has been great to you so far, and I wish for the coming months to be just as wonderful!

I’m closing with an old haiku from years ago and wishing you all a very Happy Friday! Sending much love, Lauren♥

Above All Else

I can’t figure it out.

I’ve pondered and analyzed
to my heart’s discontent

and still, nothing makes sense.

I think I’ll take a walk
into the woods,
to be embraced
by the gentle breeze,
to be touched by
serenity,

and I need to see the trees.
They have a keen sense
of awareness,

so I’m going to ask them.

Yes, the trees will know.

Breathing Space

I strolled along the sandy path
Feeling welcomed by the scenery

The ocean was like a soothing bath
Its melody, a gorgeous delivery
The sand was warm against my feet
The silence, a desired retreat

The wind hugged gently as can be
The seagulls danced along the tide
Like children playing with innocent glee
Sharing their laughter with nothing to hide
I embraced, with zest, this heavenly day
While worries gratefully slipped away

Canvas in the Sky

The night is warm
Though fall is upon us
Summer’s not willing to go
I’m in awe of the bright sky
With its oranges and pinks
Its beauty is all aglow

Two nights ago, the sunset was
incredible, so I grabbed my cell
and snapped some photos. The dot
in this photo is the beautiful moon,
not the best shot using a cell,
though, still brilliant, and the phase
for 9/23/15 was “waxing gibbous”
with 73% visibility.

I hope you enjoyed this splash of color
and the moon facts I found interesting, too.

Wishing you a wonderful Friday and weekend!
