A Welcoming Sunrise

Love doesnโ€™t search for origin
or shade of skin.
It holds no judgement of gender
or dwellings we reside in.

Love doesnโ€™t search for success
or garments on our back.
It is unattached to wealth
or possessions we lack.

Love draws no margins,
no fettering of abilities.
Love praises positivity,
loathing all inequities.

What soul doesnโ€™t wish
for acceptance to travel
pathways of truth, to
thrive in the promise of lifeโ€™s
phenomenal sunrises?

An Act of Kindness and Renewed Faith in Humanity

It was that time again to stock up the pantry and fridge, so I meandered through the grocery store, strolling up one aisle and down the next until everything on my list was checked off. When I was standing in line with a full cart for just a few minutes, I noticed the man behind me holding only two items in his hands. โ€œWould you like to go ahead of me?โ€ I offered.

โ€œOh, no thank you. Iโ€™m fine.โ€ He replied.

โ€œNo, really. I donโ€™t mind waiting.โ€ I insisted, so he humbly accepted. While he paid for his items, I read a new text from my husband that just pinged. When I looked up, the man was finishing the transaction.

โ€œThanks again for your kindness,โ€ he said to me, while gently tossing a $50 bill that I watched float through the air as in slow motion, landing on my loaf of bread! โ€œOh, my gosh! I canโ€™t accept that!โ€ I was shocked to see the money in the first place, but then realizing it was a $50 bill had me flabbergasted!

โ€œPlease, take it. Your kindness has renewed my faith in humanity.โ€ He gently enforced and literally sprinted out of the store, vanishing in seconds. I stood there with Darlene, the checker staring back at me, the biggest smile brightening her face, both of us amazed at the manโ€™s equaled kindness and generosity. She told me to accept the gift, so my first thought was to pass it onto her. Darlene was friendly and so kind, making each customer feel like the most important person in the world, exuding true customer service. And yet, she was not allowed to accept cash gifts. So, I reluctantly slipped the fifty into my purse, waves of shock still rippling through me as I exited the store.

There is no barometer in measuring the value of kindness, but it is apparent that kindness comes in all forms, and I canโ€™t wait to pay it forward to reaffirm this generous man’s faith in humanity.

If only…

Hearts can shatter if beaten down.
Souls can be crushed if pounded.
Judging others isnโ€™t a right.
People should be allowed to live
the life they were intended.
Why is violence the solution
for those who loathe

a culture or religion?
Special nuances making up
each of us are nobodyโ€™s business.
Differences afford knowledge.
Opening our hearts and minds,
what a beautiful worldโ€ฆIf only.
How drab the vision
outside our windows would look

if we were identical in every minute
aspect of our inner and outer selves.
Your world, My world,
would turn colorless.
Respecting and accepting:
unoriginal, but words repeated
again and again
until the narratives and visuals
transform.
No one deserves to live
beneath a cloud of pretense
in youth or adulthood.
We all should have the freedom
to live within the arms of truth.
I can only imagine how invisible scars
can create hell for the heart.
Love should be universal throughout
and shouldnโ€™t acquiesce temper.
Love should remain the center
of everyone.
But has kindness and compassion
been shoved under the bus?
Injustice equals disgust.

It’s really that simple!

Deep rooted in youth
love unconditionally
more practice needed

Vulnerable heart
Tears in waiting if broken
All people the same

Let’s find it in our hearts to practice kindness,
less judgement, more acceptance, and to spread
love exponentially. It’s really that simple.

Wishing you a great start to your week,

Most People

Dear Friends,

There’s been a lot going on, which has taken me away from blogging. So, I apologize for missing your wonderful posts, but I hope to start reading again soon. In the meantime, I’m sharing a song that struck a chord with me. Luke Bryan is one of our favorite country music singers, and if you like country music, then you’ll know who he is. If you’re not a fan of this genre, then I invite you to listen to the words because they truly say it all. With all the hate and violence, Luke sings, “Most people are good.” This song encourages us to still believe in humanity and not focus 100% on what the media shows us.

With continued heartbreak in the world and with our daily doses of stress of various types, I thought this song would be a soothing addition to your day. It might also change your outlook if you’re struggling to find the good. I hope you enjoy it! Lauren โค๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽถ

Territory

traveling
they wander with grace
cautiously
ears alert
grazing occasionally
complaints unfounded

they were first
time buyers in the
neighborhood
changing times
head-on, they meet their demise
one more point for man
