This will be short, but first of all, thank you for your continued support to my little corner in the land of blogging. It’s been over ten years and I’m still truckin’ along, loving the journey and wonderful connections this community offers. Not to mention, the online classroom, so many forms of poetry and writing tips shared.
More gratitude for those who have offered tremendous support in any way for my latest book, More than Coffee. You are greatly and graciously appreciated. I apologize for the sappy component. Then again, it’s intentional. 🙂
And in closing, I’ll be taking a little time off from blogland to focus on family. So, I regret to miss your posts, but we all know the feeling that whirls around us when a break is needed. And perhaps, life nudges us with clues as well. Comments are also closed. But I look forward to seeing you all in the beginning of May.
Take care. Stay well. Be happy. Hugs of gratitude coming your way…
Don’t forget to enjoy the sweetnesslife offers! And the beauty! So much beauty! ❤️
Today is an exciting day for couples to celebrate their love for each other. I also show my love not only for my husband, but for my family and friends who hold a special place in my heart. You see, today isn’t joyful for everyone. Some people grieve the passing of their spouse or partner. Some hearts hurt from a breakup. Some people have chosen to be single, so today may not hold a huge significance for them. Some live on the streets. Some live with daunting diagnoses. So, let’s be mindful of the different scenarios that play out on this day. If today is a joyful day for your heart, I implore you to take a moment to think of those who struggle in some manner…
Give Love
Candy hearts that say Be Mine Red roses bestowing forever Fancy dinners for two in love A special night to remember
But what about the lonely – The broken hearts and souls? What about the hopeless Where life has taken its toll?
On this day where hearts abound Give love where you find sorrow Let compassion be your guide to fashion a better tomorrow
And now for a mixture of love poems from the past…
Forever Love (an Acrostic)
Faint is how you make me feel and not Only when our lips connect, but when I Remember our first embrace and how my Emotions twirled inside of me; dizzy and Voiceless I was and those moments still exist Even though decades have come and gone Reflections of those first days are magical Learning the true meaning of bliss, an Out of the ordinary feeling, knowing you are my Valentine, lover and friend for the rest of our life and for Eternity~
Glue
I stumble over his broken pieces, their jagged edges reach for me. I want to be their healing glue.
His mind is weary, I understand the layers of his soul. I want to be his shoulder.
His heart aches trying to make sense of it all… but I won’t let him fall… I am his remedy.
The World is Broken
The world is broken, we are aware,
but being alive on this crisp autumn morning, what a blessing to behold
and he says,
“The good news for today is I love you, Your heart, Your mind, Your soul.”
The world may be broken,
but I am not.
I hope today will be joyful for you from my heart to yours. Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️❤️
Yesterday, I met a friend for breakfast, and then we took a walk through downtown and the neighborhood. We both were struck by the beauty and uniqueness of this sign that is not uncommon to any of us. So, below are thoughts that came to mind in the form of haiku:
when children are near absorb their laughter, the joy flowing into you
snails teach with their wise leisure movements, taking in beautiful backdrops
slow down your travels do not let decades escape catalogue moments
pause in your footsteps regard life’s celebrations breathe in their fragrance
I remember yesterday when I stepped outside, strolling down the undisturbed road with my dog on my left, his gait as graceful as a galloping horse in slow motion. Maybe the squirrels raised their sleepy heads because of the early hour. The sky appeared to be coal black, but when I turned the corner, watermelon pinks, corals, and lemon yellows took center stage. My camera did not deliver. Then I thought of my son who often says, “Enjoy the moment.” I slipped that device back in my pocket. Passing the orange poppies, I imagined their stems fluttered with excitement, eager for the sun’s ascent, and in the distance, silence sang its serene ballad. As the tempo of our pace sped up, a breeze joined us, and the leaves on the trees lining the lane swayed in rhythm as though dancing a waltz. Jowls flapped, he smiled with brown nose set in overdrive. The sun’s gentle touch added a glimmer to his copper coat. There was a moment when I paused, bending down to his level, fingers stroking shiny, silky fur, his eyes closed, contented from contact. When we moved again, his nails on the asphalt mimicked the clicking of castanets, and in that second, I realized these observations on this early morning are what life is all about… the seeing…touching…smelling…listening… the being.
As Copper and I enjoyed our morning walk this morning,
I couldn’t help notice the vibrant blooms along the way. Whether they blossom in our garden or in the neighborhood, they have served as an exceptional balm during this time of sheltering in place. Copper even knows when it’s time to slow down
and smell the flowers…

A Cup of Spring
Miss Spring sips her tea as we anticipate
her arrival. She says, “Be patient, I will soon bring you
colors so pleasing and new life, delightful.
But first, Mr. Winter
must finish acting
out his scene.”
Yours truly
I believe Miss Spring kept her promise and I hope these gorgeous blooms were as soothing to you as they were to me.
