Young at Heart

grand pa

You’re never too old
for wind in your face
Just get out there and go
no matter your pace
It’s the freedom you feel
cruising down the street
whether in the front
or even backseat
It’s the feeling of youth
when time has passed you by
It’s the pleasure you feel
knowing you’ve tried
So don’t ever think
you’re too old to fly
Swing that leg over
and head for the sky!

My Dad had some New Year’s Day fun sitting on our scooter and pretending to ride, with the help of my hubby. Of course, if he did ride, he would have worn a helmet! My son edited the top photo, which turned out awesome and our family got a kick out of seeing Grandpa, at the Young age of 94, “cruising down the street!”
This only proves you can stay “Young at Heart!”

New Year Happy Greetings! :)

I haven’t been writing lately, and I remember “saying” that my last post on December 17th would be my last post for this year. Well, I couldn’t help wishing you all an early “Happy New Year” and writing something for this BIG occasion… 🙂

There were…
high points to this year
low points to bear
tears to dry
from reasons to cry
lessons to learn by
adventures to try
demons to fight
wrongs to right
resolutions completed
some deleted
but looking back
we see the impact
another year of living
the gift of existing
So accelerate in high gear
no invite for fear
Pour the bubbles
forget your troubles
Clink and Chime
Celebrate Big Time!

My sisters, brother-in-law and Dad
will be visiting us for New Year’s,
which is the reason for posting this early…

so have a Fabulous, Safe New Year’s Celebration
and I wish you all
an incredible 2014
filled with Good Health, Love, Joy and Success!

Thank you, again, for visiting my blog
and giving me the encouragement

to continue here.

See you next year! ♥

Dear Friends,

It’s been a busy time now with our daughter home from college for the holidays and hubby and I are enjoying our full house again with her and our son! So I haven’t been online as much and I’m sorry for missing your wonderful posts. I always feel really bad when I can’t stay caught up. Anyway, this will be the last one for me for 2013. However, I’ll still try to visit blogs when I can..
I won’t completely fall off the radar! 🙂

I wish you an abundance of love, peace, laughter and many new wonderful memories during this holiday season. And a big “Thank You” for your visits, as well as, for supporting the arrival of my debut poetry book. I appreciate all of you!  Sending many hugs, much love and I wish you a safe and Happy New Year, too!
I’ll see you in 2014! ♥

May this holiday find you smiling
Enjoying priceless times with loved ones
Rejoicing in the birth of our Dear Savior
Realizing your blessings and finding peace
Yearning for the Holy birthday of the year
Caring for others who need their spirits lifted
Hosting family and friends in cozy get-togethers
Remembering, any act of kindness is truly a gift
Imagining the festive spirit throughout the New Year
Seeing the delight and wonder through a child’s eyes
Taking time and letting God’s loving light shine through you
Making magical moments that will turn into precious memories
Allowing yourself tranquility in the midst of the seasonal chaos
Silently saying a prayer for those who are in need of God’s healing grace

The Answer

You’ve been missing
for some time now
I wonder if you’ll ever
show your lovely face.

I’ve looked for you
in nooks
and crannies,
in cupboards
occupied by
glassware and
plates.

I’ve lifted the rugs
lying in my hallway

and peeked in the linen
closet, just to be sure.

Perhaps you’re hiding
in the bathtub, a sneaky
spot to stay and a Psycho
scene reversed.

One last place I thought
to check, glancing under
the bed…the only thing that
stared me back were the dust
bunnies playing dead.

Now I fear my time has
been nothing but a waste,
for whether you arrive or not
I’ll greet each new day with Faith.

Waiting for Santa

Christmas tree Michael took

Magic fills the air tonight; Rudolph leads the way
as they’ll land on the roof in the big, glorious sleigh

Her enthusiasm is charming; she’s bursting with glee
making cookies for Santa to set by the tree

It sparkles with colors, all shiny and bright
with tinsel and popcorn and lights of white

She sets the cookies where he won’t miss them
with a bowl of carrots so the reindeer can have some

As darkness arrives, her bedtime is near
inside her heart, she’s holding great cheer

With one eye open, she’s too excited to sleep
but slumber prevails so she hears not a peep

She rises with the sun, joyfully wiggling
waking her parents with constant giggling

They enter the room to find many surprises,
gifts hugging their tree in all different sizes

She was thrilled to see only cookie crumbs lie
and the carrots were eaten by reindeer in the sky

Their tree was so pretty, standing tall and proud
She hugged Mommy and Daddy and thanked Santa out loud

May we all experience the magic of this Holiday Season
with childlike excitement~

Welcome December!

Hi Everyone!

It’s hard to believe we’ve turned another calendar page, which means Christmas is only 3 1/2 weeks away!

I want to thank those of you who have already purchased a copy of my book. You are my amazing cheerleaders and I will always be humbled and grateful! Please know I appreciate YOU! ♥

“New Day, New Dreams”  would fit nicely on a coffee table, maybe accompanied by a compelling mystery or romance, flowers and candles. It would also make a great gift for someone special.

So I invite you to visit my Published Works page…(at the top of my blog, the 4th tab over). On this page you’ll find all of my book information, including the links to order. Feel free to “like” or “comment” too! 🙂

Early Thoughts of Thanksgiving

thanksgiv-day

Born from history
is this day we celebrate
the blessings in our lives
for each breath we take
I ask not for anything
but one gift I will bring
to the feast laid before me
on a day filled with glee
And so I gladly share
with a joyful prayer
at this table I take part,
my very grateful heart

Sending you all wishes of a very joyful Thanksgiving
and wishes of joy and gratitude in each and every day!

Love,
Lauren

Realization

San Fran by Michael 2013

Do you need rest,
solitude for your
heart and mind?

Accept and embrace it
and don’t be shy

to admit a fraction
of you needs only to
hear silence

where the depths of
your thoughts can
grow from their
lingering state

A precious gift
for your own
sake
