Sidewalks no longer sizzle
beneath summer’s intense embrace –
a sign anticipated by the leaves
with an abundance of grace.
Each year around this time,
they’re excited for the change,
like a model walks the runway,
new colors rearrange.
Shades of cranberries and squash
warmly enter stage left –
pinks and purples gladly accept
their much-needed rest.
A season that captivates when
cinnamon swirls in the air,
candles dance on mantels,
October declares, “Beware!”
Mother Nature encourages
soft sweaters and snuggling –
lights blink and wink on eaves
ambience for cuddling.
Pumpkin flavors entertain palates
in recipes galore
while on the thirty-first
carved faces frighten with gore!
So, whatever your fancy
in the midst of football and hayrides,
enjoy the fun festivities
and the blustery, cozy vibes!

The Aspens are so lovely and the poem is soothing. Thanks.
Thanks, Darlene! It was wonderful to see the Aspens in autumn, and I’m glad you found the poem to be soothing. 🧡
My favorite time of ANY year! ❤ Thank you for the heart warming verbal/visual salutes!!
Mine too, Annette, and I’m glad you enjoyed this autumn tribute. Thanks for your lovely words! 🧡
Perfect pictures and fitting poem, Lauren. I have a similar video of the black cottonwoods in Montana shivering and whispering in the wind. Beautiful!
Thanks, Anneli, and I had to get a video of the dancing Aspen leaves. These trees were simply gorgeous! I’m sure the cottonwoods in Montana are beautiful. One state that I’d love to visit. I’m glad you enjoyed this! 🧡
The sound of those leaves was the first thing I thought of, even before I played the clip. Nice!
Thanks! We just stood and watched for minutes. They were mesmerizing!
Beautiful poem for the change in the air.
Thanks for your beautiful words, Elizabeth! 🧡
💕
A terrific poem, Lauren. We are still in the 90s so I’ll have to live autumn through your poetry.
Thanks so much, John, and wow! I hope the temps cool down soon for you, but I’m glad my poem was timely. :)🧡
We have at least another month till we get cooler weather.
Hang in there! And stay cool! 😎
Trying. Thanks, Lauren.
Lauren this was such a wonderful poem. I could almost feel the crisp air and smell the cinnamon.
Love this, my Dear Friend 🍁
Aww, thanks so much for your wonderful words, Willie! Greatly appreciated, my friend! 🧡

Same to you, Willie! 🙏

Coming right up, Violet, and I’ll join you! 😊🧡🍎
Good video. The quivering of aspens is like no other.
Thanks, Jacqui, and I agree. That was a first, so I had to get it on video. 🧡
Lauren your post has such a beautiful autumnal vibe 🍁🧡🍁 I love the video, how stunning is that tree and your poem is a delight.
It makes me feel all fuzzy and cozy.
Thank you Lauren.
Much love to you dear friend xoxox

What a coincidence! When my husband and I were out and about Friday, I made him stop the car so I could take a video of an aspen. Then I included the tree in a new poem.
A coincidence indeed, Liz! Great minds….🧡🍁
🙂
Loved the poem and illustrative pictures.
Thanks so much, Ian! I’m glad you enjoyed this fall post.
Soft sweaters and snuggling. Lovely lines in your poem, Lauren.
Thanks so much, Mary! 🍁🧡
Blustery, cozy vibes – I love it, Lauren!
Thanks so much, Wynne! I love this time of year! 🧡🍁🤗
Fall continues to be my favorite season, though where we live there aren’t great seasonal changes as it’s pretty mild year round. I saw this poll from 2025 with people’s favorite seasons:
Fall—45%
Spring—26%
Summer—24%
Winter—11%
I’m sure there would be quite a bit of variance, depending on where one lives.
I agree about the variance, Pete, but I’m not surprised by these numbers. This season is definitely my favorite, but when we visited our son in Colorado last month, fall was showing her colors more than here in the Bay Area. 🍁
Those dancing leaves are therapeutic to see. Another lovely poem and photo, Lauren.
There’s something calming about those dancing leaves, I agree. Thanks for your lovely comment, Hazel. It’s greatly appreciated! 🧡
My pleasure always, Lauren
So lovely, Lauren… each stanza like one of fall’s cozy rooms. I so love “cinnamon swirls in the air”😊 And the fact that the aspect of the poem is so much in tune with the video, I mean the Portrait aspect… tall, elegant and shimmering like a graceful aspen tree. In Romanian they are called ‘trembling poplar trees” 💕
Thanks for your wonderful words, Nicole. I love how you saw the Portrait aspect, so intuitive! I love “trembling poplar trees.” I’m so glad you loved this post. Your lovely comments are always appreciated. 🧡🍁
I certainly got a feel for the beautiful autumn experiences and falling colorful leaves from your beautiful poem, despite the fact that we have much less of it here in Texas. “Pumpkin flavors entertain palates” reminded me that I need to buy pumkpkin beers (and pumpkin pie later on).
I’m so glad to ‘hear’ that, Thomas. And it sounds like summer is still hanging around in Texas. I hope you get those pumpkin beers and pie soon! Thanks so much! 🍁🥧🍺
Thank you so much Lauren. Pumpkin pie and pumpkin beer is not to be missed. The temperature here is high 80’s and low 90’s still.
Well, enjoy when the season changes. And stay cool too!
Thank you so much Lauren. I can add that I just got an email from the Happiness Engineers. They told me that they solved the problem with reblogging.
That’s great news, Thomas! Happiness indeed! 🙂
This is a very beautiful and athmospheric poem, so I might as well reblog it and test if reblogging works again at the same time. I hope you don’t mind.
I don’t mind at all, Thomas! I’m honored that you love this poem enough to share. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much Lauren
You are so kind, Thomas. 🙏
Such a lovely share, Lauren. 💖
Thanks very much, Tina. I’m glad you loved this post. 🍁🤗🧡
It’s my pleasure Lauren. ❤️

Such a wonderful poem Lauren like an ode to the new season, it’s colors, sounds and festivities. We can feel the cozyness in your lines and it feels sweet and comfy.
May you enjoy a very nice autumn 🍂 🍁! Lots of hugs from France.
