A little ‘me’ time

I recently spent a few hours at one of our county parks located in a cove off of San Pablo Bay. A beautiful day, but a little windy. Regardless, I enjoyed a deli lunch, a walk on the pier, the tranquil scenery, reading beautiful poetry by D.L. Finn, and of course, writing some haiku. Hope you enjoy the pics and poems:

a gaggle playing
sunbathing and conversing
year-long residents

sun comes out to play
wind joins in summer respite
hooded walk on pier

Observations

(a)

pickle ball on court
tennis in shorter version
healthy exercise

(b)

lost in the repose
boats floating on bay look like
dots in the distance

(c)

water entices
let’s take a refreshing dip
cold down to the bones

(d)

children dig in sand
for shells, stones, and crustaceans
treasures for their hearts

  1. Very pleasant photos and poetry, Lauren. Man, I wish I had access to the ocean! You’d find me there every day, for sure. Happy Sunday, my friend. 😊

  2. A lovely share of your “me time” walk. What a gift, Lauren, to have that time for an amble on the beach, for poetry, and for the beautiful sky and sea. Your poems offered a wonderful glimpse of the day.

I think I voted. Spillwords and I have a really hard time connecting, ALWAYS. The “error” messages changed, so I hope that means I voted and it was preventing me from voting again. I love that poem!

    1. Thanks, Diana! I don’t do things alone often because I’m usually with family or friends. But I enjoyed these few hours, and I’m glad you enjoyed this post. Thanks for trying to vote, whether it went through or not. I know sometimes SW can be temperamental. 🙂 I always appreciate your support, my friend. And thanks for your kind words about my poem too. Hugs 🥰

      1. That’s great, Diana! Thanks for trying again, and for your support! And I feel the same about your writing! Hope you had a nice 4th despite ‘everything’, and enjoy your weekend. ❤️🎆

  3. Beautiful photographs Lauren and I loved your haikus too.
I like to see multi -faceted posts like yours.
I am afraid mine are dull in comparison 🤗
Best wishes for a good week ahead my friend..
Lots of love and warm hugs xoxox

    1. Thanks so much, Maggie! I’m glad you enjoyed the pics and poems, but your posts are anything but dull! So please know that! I’m one of your most loyal fans! Inspiration guides me, so it just depends on what comes to mind. I’m not a photographer, but I love taking photos and my cell works pretty well. So, it’s fun to share, not so much pics of me, but sometimes they slip in. 🙂 Wishing you the same, dear friend! Hugs and love flying across the pond! ❤️ xoxo 😘

      1. Aww Lauren xo
        You are too kind ❤️
My pleasure to read your words always !
I find my cell takes the best pics though I do have a good camera.
You will sleep like a baby tonight after the sea air 🤗 the weather looks fab too.
Actually, we really can’t complain this year here, no need for wellies yet 😅.
Thank you my friend xoxo 😘🙏🤗 back to you xox

  4. What a wonderful day you had reflected by your time at the park so precious and joyful, Lauren.. All the best on SW and thanks for the reminder… running! Love my review embedded in your photo,, great idea.. Happy Sunday! 💕

    1. Thanks so much on all counts, Cindy! I’m glad you enjoyed this ‘me’ time. And it’s fun to add a snippet from a friend’s review for promotion. 😉 Hope you’ve having a peaceful Sunday, my friend. 💖

Are you a pickle ball player, Lauren? I began playing after I retired until I tweaked my knee. What a great sport for those of us who are a little older. I loved the physical and social aspects of the sport. Since I previously had two knee surgeries, I’m probably done.

    1. No, I’m not, Pete. There was a game going on which inspired a haiku. Tennis was my game years ago, and a little golf, but to this day, still pretty good at table tennis. 🙂 I know what you mean. My body tells me that tennis is in the past too. My hubby and I took up more cycling which is better for my back than walking. Sometimes, we have to modify activities as we get older, and that’s okay.

  6. A lot of wonderful coastal spots north and south of SFO. Some places have a lot of seaweed growing in the ocean though and while its very necessary for sea creature habitat it is not so pleasing to look at. I was just reviewing my pictures of the US today and noted some of our stay at Sea Ranch.

    1. There sure are, Ian. This park is about 20 minutes away. I went on a weekday to avoid the crowds, so it was nice. We’ve never been to Sea Ranch. Would you still recommend it? Sonoma County is one of our favorite destinations.

  7. Dearest Lauren, thank you for your haiku’s and your pictures. It felt like you had this special park to yourself. Sending you huge, soft, healing hugs. I love your soft picture from before. Good luck on Spillwords. Much love to you and Matt. Xxx 🩷🌹🤗🩷

    1. Thanks for your lovely words, Jane! It was a weekday so not crowded, which is why I didn’t want to go on a weekend. The quiet was nice. I found that photo and thought it would be good for the poem. More of a background with only a little of me. 🙂 I’m critical of ‘me’ pics, but this is a fave that Michael took about 14 or so years ago. Oh, to be younger again! LOL Thanks on all counts, dear friend, and love and hugs to you and Tim! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  8. Your “Me time” on the beach looks so peaceful and restful, and your haiku is lovely. I didn’t read this in time to vote, but I love your poem and am sending warm wishes for its success.

  9. How nice Lauren to share with us this nice “me time” 🥰, the great photos and as always lovely haikus. Always a pleasure to discover your poetry.

Well done for the nomination too!

    Enjoy your day ❤️
