precious works of art
remain forever priceless
as time ticks away
rocks and shiny shells
of all shapes and colors bring
joy to childlike hearts
sandy shore offers
troves of tiny treasures for
imaginations
smooth-as-silk green glass
in clay molded with fancy
edges shows vision
paintbrush through fingers
brows furrowed, concentrating
cherished masterpiece
tiny hands create
a piece of art, melting the
heart decades later

You are welcome so much, Lauren.
Beautiful memories immortalized in poetry. I love it Lauren.
Thanks for your beautiful comment, Balroop. I have no doubt that you feel the same about the value of our children’s artwork. π
These tiny treasures are melting my heart too…. your words that is! π€ππxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Aww, thanks, Marina. This piece of art from our son a long, long time ago sits on one of our patio tables and I became inspired. I think inspiration came also because he’s visiting us this week. π ππππππ
All aspiring to a wonderful poem!
Enjoy the days with him!!!!! π€πβοΈββ€πβ€

HI Lauren, this is gorgeous. I have a lot of my sons artworks from over the year too. It is wonderful to look at every now and then.
Hi Robbie, thanks so much, and it’s wonderful you have a lot of your son’s artwork, too. Precious pieces of love to bring back those memories. π
Yes, exactly. Hugs.
So true of kid art, Lauren. Well done
Thanks, John. Our son who is 27 now is visiting us this week. And this little piece of precious art sits on one of our patio tables, so over a glass of wine, I became inspired. π
Nothing like a kid visiting and a glass of wine for inspiration.
So true, John. Since ours live across country, we savor these visits and moments together. So sappy, but can’t help it. π
Worth sappy for sure
My childhood memories resurfaced with this one. Loved exploring in the rocks by the beach
I’m so glad this post evoked those memories, Ian. Exploring on the beach is always fun at any age.
Beautiful poem ..love the art. π

Many Blessings,

I was initially distracted by the pretties, too. π€
Thanks again, Sheri! Children see the beauty in the smallest of treasures. π
You’re very welcome. They do see the world with a wonder we’re blessed to get glimpses of.
What a beautiful poem.. even more so because of it’s inspiration.
Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks for your lovely words, Sheri, and for your visit. π
My pleasure.

Isn’t it wonderful, to hold and feel and look at our child’s precious “art,” decades old, which still holds their childhood energy? Wonderful evocative poem, Lauren.
