Happy 94th Birthday, Dad! ♥

Happy 94th Birthday, Dad

I’m honoring my Dad’s 94th Birthday today!

At this “youthful” stage in his life, he still drives, enjoys reading my blog,
has a facebook now, meets a good friend for lunch often, remains active
in his church and is still going strong!
Someday, I’ll ask him again what the secret to a long life is…

Dad, I’m sending you a Blitz Torte (your favorite), but this time,
I didn’t make it myself.
You know I’m a great baker,
but this cake is not my specialty, it was Mom’s.
I was afraid mine would look like the California Earthquake cake again! 🙂
Remember that? I think Mom really enjoyed my attempt and had a good laugh!

There are no new words to say,
only those that have been repeated over the years…

Thank you for all you’ve done for your three daughters
and for all of their families. Your kindness and Love
doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for being our Pillar
and for being Mom’s true love.

WE LOVE YOU AND WISH YOU A HAPPY 94TH!

xoxo

    1. Thanks, Francina, he’ll appreciate you saying that and these Blitz Tortes are really good…it’s a tradition for him each year on his birthday, but Mom was the expert in making them and she is dearly missed…Love and hugs to you, too! xoxo

  2. Wow! He looks well…

Now I must ask, what is Blitz Torte? I’ve never heard of it – judging by the picture it is some kind of heavenly meringue and cake concoction?

    1. Thanks so much, Pooky! He has aged very well, I think, too! 🙂 A Blitz Torte is a torte (cake) that is like a vanilla flavor with custard filling and meringue on top. The last time I attempted to make one, I don’t think I whipped the egg whites long enough, because the meringue came out cracked! Seriously, we live in CA, so I called it the California Quake Cake! lol My parents loved it anyway and had a good laugh! It’s very good and my Mom has always made it for Dad on his birthday. Sadly, she passed over a year ago, so I know it’s tough for him…thanks for stopping by!

      1. It sounds like you invented a whole new kind of cake!

I’m going to have to try making a Blitz Torte – I made my husband a 5 layer chocolate brownie and meringue cake with raspberry cream for his birthday. It was RIDICULOUS!

Sorry to hear about your Mum. I’m sure you and your father keep her alive with all your happy memories though x

  3. How lovely, happy birthday to your Dad, he must give my Dad tips on how to look so well at 94 ;). My Nana is just getting into blogging and Facebook she was scared about breaking her laptop at first but now she loves it.

    1. Thanks, Charlotte, and I’ll tell him you said he looks good at 94! I think he’ll read this post later, too! That’s great about your Nana getting into blogging and facebook. I was surprised when Dad wanted a fb, but we all helped him get set up! Thanks again and I just love your voice! 🙂

      1. Thanks Lauren, hope your daughters enjoying University 😉 I’ve just loaded another video on Facebook tonight of me singing with the full male voice choir and the military wives choir. Barry Manilow’s One Voice 😉

      2. She’s doing great and feels much more comfortable now and so do her parents! 🙂 I just watched the video and your performance is just gorgeous! Wow! I also “liked” your page, so I’ll look forward to listening to more of your beautiful voice, too! Thanks again, for stopping by!
