I’ve recently learned a new form of poetry, called a Nonet,
which consists of nine lines.
The first line has nine syllables, the second line eight syllables,
the third line seven syllables, etc… until line nine finishes with one syllable.
I’ll keep you forever and always
staying true to daily actions
and to every word I say,
for you are a golden
jewel in my life
and in my heart
I love you
dearly,
Friend

This is nice for a first nonet, Lauren. One of these days, I’m going to give it a try.
Thanks, Cynthia, I wrote this in a hurry, focusing on lines and syllables…I’ll practice some more and you should give it a try! Can’t wait to read! 🙂
Very Beautyful words!!!
Thanks so much, Eva, and I appreciate your visit, as well…

Hey you wrote a nonet, loved it 🙂
It’s not the best, but it’s a meaningful message to all my friends and I thank you, my friend! 🙂
Lauren sending you Easter wishes, have a blessed day 🙂

Aww…Soma, thank you for the beautiful Easter greeting and the same to you, my friend! Love and hugs! ♥
Very nice, it is always nice to learn something new
Thanks, Wendell, it was fun to write and I’ll be practicing more! Hope you’re feeling better…
You did good Lauren. I’ve consider trying this but. That demon time again.
Thanks, Kim, I want to shoot for more depth next time, but I felt like expressing this friendship feeling right now…I’d love to see you try, too! I know you can rise up to the challenge!
Beautiful, I hope to give it a try one if these days. Long day at doctor office and hospital visit. I’m just drain, pray all is well on your end! God Bless 🙂
Thanks, PJ, and you should! Sorry to hear about your day, but you’re in my prayers, my friend…have a restful evening..xx
There’s something so delightfully challenging and yet playful about so many of the poetic forms. This one, in your hands, is truly a gem! Thanks for sharing your gifts with us, my lovely.
xoxo!
Aww…thanks, Kathryn, and you’re right; many forms are fun to play around with…this one was, but I need more practice! Sending much love and many hugs!
very nice Lauren, I play with this form a lot, both in this form, 9 to 1 and in its other form, 1 to 9 or even a combination of both. Nice to see you expanding your tool box.
Thanks, Purple, and I love the 1 to 9 option, too…I’ll be practicing more! Would love to see some of yours, as well! Do you have some on your blog?
Yes Lauren, I play with nonets quite often, in both forms, or combined. I just wrote a new one yesterday called “me, you, us” because the form was fresh in my mind for some reason or another. 🙂 Feel free to explore tags in my tag cloud, like nonet, reverse nonet, or any others you are curious about. It should bring up all examples of what I have written using any particular form. If I can ever help in any way, please ask. I’m no expert, but I will try to explain what I know and what I do when I try to write to a specific form. Happy writing (and Easter too)
Okay, great, thanks so much! I enjoy doing my own thing, but once in awhile, it’s fun trying something new and I love how the nonet looks. I’ll peruse your blog and thanks again, Purple! Happy Easter to you, too!
Nicely done! 🙂 Nonet you say?
Thanks, Joe! 🙂
Good job on your very first nonet. I wrote one and submitted it along with two other poems to the Judd’s Hill Wine website for the 2012 poetry contest. It was not the one they chose to post and once again I didn’t win the wine. Maybe next year.
Thanks, Sandra, and at least you tried! Keep trying and that’s what I’ll do, too!
A delightful Nonet, Lauren, well done – I love the message in this! Wishing you and yours a very Happy Easter, my friend. ~ Love and hugs, Julie xoxox
Aww..thanks, Julie, and I don’t think I can compare to a nonet written from you, but I’ll try some more! And wishing you the same for a very blessed Easter! Sending love and many hugs! xoxo
Happy Easter, Lauren ❤ Much love to the whole family. xxx
Thanks so much, Red, and the same wishes with much love and tons of hugs to you and your family, too! xoxo
