Life’s Precious Gems (A Nonet)

I’ve recently learned a new form of poetry, called a Nonet,
which consists of nine lines.

The first line has nine syllables, the second line eight syllables,
the third line seven syllables, etc… until line nine finishes with one  syllable.

I’ll keep you forever and always

staying true to daily actions

and to every word I say,

for you are a golden

jewel in my life

and in my heart

I love you

dearly,

Friend

    1. Thanks, Christine, it’s just a practice one and if anything, the sentiment is nice! 🙂 Yes, I do love how they flow and Caddo has written some great ones…between you and her, I felt inspired! HBL ♥

    1. Thanks, Kim, I want to shoot for more depth next time, but I felt like expressing this friendship feeling right now…I’d love to see you try, too! I know you can rise up to the challenge!

  1. There’s something so delightfully challenging and yet playful about so many of the poetic forms. This one, in your hands, is truly a gem! Thanks for sharing your gifts with us, my lovely.
    xoxo!

  2. very nice Lauren, I play with this form a lot, both in this form, 9 to 1 and in its other form, 1 to 9 or even a combination of both. Nice to see you expanding your tool box.

      1. Yes Lauren, I play with nonets quite often, in both forms, or combined. I just wrote a new one yesterday called “me, you, us” because the form was fresh in my mind for some reason or another. 🙂 Feel free to explore tags in my tag cloud, like nonet, reverse nonet, or any others you are curious about. It should bring up all examples of what I have written using any particular form. If I can ever help in any way, please ask. I’m no expert, but I will try to explain what I know and what I do when I try to write to a specific form. Happy writing (and Easter too)

      2. Okay, great, thanks so much! I enjoy doing my own thing, but once in awhile, it’s fun trying something new and I love how the nonet looks. I’ll peruse your blog and thanks again, Purple! Happy Easter to you, too!

  3. Good job on your very first nonet. I wrote one and submitted it along with two other poems to the Judd’s Hill Wine website for the 2012 poetry contest. It was not the one they chose to post and once again I didn’t win the wine. Maybe next year.

A delightful Nonet, Lauren, well done – I love the message in this! Wishing you and yours a very Happy Easter, my friend. ~ Love and hugs, Julie xoxox

    1. Aww..thanks, Julie, and I don’t think I can compare to a nonet written from you, but I’ll try some more! And wishing you the same for a very blessed Easter! Sending love and many hugs! xoxo
