Weight

It’s amazing
how a word
or phrase
can weigh heavy,

like two hands
pushing you down…
down into
a sea of self doubt

and the only survival
is the strength you seize,
arms straight and strong,
with every muscle
you have,

To Push Back,
find air again –
and breathe.

Take Two

Some stories last forever
with fairy tale happy endings,
leaving the readers with a sigh

Ours was written
in scribbles and question marks,
leaving them wondering why

There are chapters
I would have wished deleted,
instead I read and cried

Perhaps a re-write
could be possible,
are you willing to try?

When you’re ready
to re-enact our parts
I’ll be standing by

“Walking the Talk”

Have you ever “talked” about “doing” something, but never did it? I have, so I’ve chosen this year “for doing” and I’m excited to say that my first poetry book is in the production process. I am publishing it through Xlibris and they have been really great to work with. It is expected to be released in October.

Most importantly, I’m dedicating the book to my parents, In Loving Memory of Mom. I wish I had committed to it before she passed away, but I can only move forward now and do it for Dad. Anyway, I just thought of sharing some exciting news and am proud of myself for finally “walking the talk!” πŸ™‚

I also know several other friends who are publishing books, so this truly is the year “for doing!” I’m excited to read them all! β™₯

Thanks for visiting and I wish you
a wonderful weekend ahead
and encourage you to…

MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!

FRIENDSHIP

If I need a place
to rest my mind
will you lend a shoulder
for just a little time?

If I need to shed
concerns and talk
can I call you up
regardless of the clock?

If I need a hug
to feel some warmth
will you offer protection
from the storm?

Thank you, my friend,
for your loving support
for your uplifting smiles
and your unselfish heart

It’s been awhile since I’ve followed through with awards, simply because of life and time limits, not because they weren’t greatly appreciated. So, I
recently received this ABC award (that I don’t remember receiving in the past) from a lovely lady and new friend,
Cha, at
http://www.dontchawannadream.wordpress.com

She is a wonderful artist that I’ve enjoyed getting to know just recently.
She also has a big heart and a constant “smile.” If you haven’t visited her blog, please do so, you won’t be disappointed! Merci beaucoup, Cha! xxx

Here are the rules for this fun award:

1) Thank and link back to who nominated you.
2) Say something about yourself with a word or a phrase beginning with each letter of the alphabet.
3) And of course nominate some other bloggers for the award!

So here goes…and I admit to cheating a bit…some have more than one word! πŸ™‚

A Affectionate B Bride, 24 years ago C- Caring D– Dancing, love it E Emotional F – Friends, loved the sitcom G Gemstones H – Hugs & Hubby I Ice cream, Mint Chocolate Chip J– January (wedding anniversary) K– Kids (2) L– Lattes M– Music & Mountains N– Never Give Up! O– Ocean
P– Pets, dogs to be specific Q– Quarters (meter $)Β R–Β  Reading, Rainbows & Rivers S Singing T Tim McGraw U Understanding V– Vanilla W– Wine
X– X-rays (from the past, this was tough) Y– Yoda, George Lucas lives near usΒ  Z– Zealous πŸ™‚

Instead of choosing specific bloggers to pass this on to, I leave it up to you! If you’d like to play along and pass it on, then please feel free! This was really fun and even a little challenging! I hope you enjoyed and thanks so much for stopping by!Β  Have a wonderful day or evening! Lauren β™₯

The Here and Now

living in the here and now

I won’t be sharing a poem in this post, something a little different for me. Instead, I felt like sharing some thoughts. I hope you enjoy and feel free to chime in, too! β™₯

It’s so easy to let our minds wander into the future, worrying about what could happen. It’s not difficult, at all, to let anticipation of something negative impact our daily thinking. Anything is easy, as long as it’s the antonym of optimism. Would you rather think the worst to prevent disappointment, instead of thinking positively and probably having a good day?

I confess. I’ve had these moments. Then there comes a time when we have a choice to make. We can wear a frown, stay miserable, ruining not only our day, but days for those around us. Or we can turn the frown upside down, hope for the best and have a little faith that all will work out.

Yes, very cliche. I’ve experienced, though, truth in these words. If I carry a positive attitude throughout my daily routine, I find that things do work out in the end. Have I been disappointed? Of course I have. In fact, our family is still in the midst of catching a curve ball thrown to us last fall. I’d love to throw it back! Instead, we’re trying to dodge it to the best of our ability.

Last year, after researching what we’re dealing with, on the internet one night, I cried so hard I created a twitch in my right cheek. It lasted for about a week. Boy, did I really work those face muscles! Crying is not a weakness, but a cleansing of the soul. However, too much of it can cause havoc! Needless to say, worrying about something that hasn’t happened, that could happen, probably will, but we’re really not sure, is just not worth any more hairs to highlight!

So I’m learning to live in the HERE AND NOW even more than I did before. We have today. We have today only. We have no idea what tomorrow will bring or ten years from now, but we can be happy this very moment and carry a lighter load. We can make the best of the gift of life for us, individually, for our loved ones and for our friends.Β

Someone very special once said, β€œIt’s all about the Here and Now. I’m living my life for today.”

So I encourage you to Make Each Moment Matter, Each Day Count and Together, Lets Live In the Here and Now!

With love and smiles,
Lauren

FINAL EDIT

Perception

Clouds are welcomed
when my eyes tire
of the sun and
their tears soothe
my soul, while inside
staying warm
but sometimes
they exude
uncertainty in
the night
their color
becomes blurry
with no vision
in sight
I much
rather prefer
my world
in
black
and
white

Uncharted

Will new doors
dare to open
if what they reveal
is unexpected?

A chance worth taking
to feel more connected
or a daunting challenge
when one feels dejected

For those who live in darkness
afraid to embrace the light
believing darkness
is their only right

Then despair settles with dust
on the lonely shelf
leaving Hope to wonder
where the entry is
to redeem itself
