The End and the Beginning

How can we part this way
after all the things you said?
Your words were gold and shiny,
now our love is but a thread
of loneliness and heartache
and all sad words we know,
I gave everything of me
to you; my love was bestowed

Isn’t it mysterious how relationships end when we believe all is wonderful? Whether they’re made of romance or friendship, the outcome is the same. Our emotions are activated in heart-tugging manners, questions form, and our minds are baffled. We tried our best to contribute fairly in all that is required to keep a relationship stable. We felt comfortable enough to remove the mask and be ourselves without fear of judgment.

Many factors contribute to broken relationships as J.K. Rowling points out: “Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike.” We need to show up, we have to participate, and we must communicate. So what happens then when two people part? Where do they go emotionally? Is it just as hard when two friends separate than when two lovers do? More is invested into a romantic relationship because of the physical connection; however, in both cases, there is loss, which is difficult regardless of the details.

One can wade in self pity, spend many moments crying, wondering what went wrong, and all of this is fine. Yet, how much time should be spent on over analyzing? Each break up is different because of its content, but as long as we don’t strive to swim a marathon in those tears, a little bit of emotional cleansing is healthy. Then it’s time to move forward; Steve Maraboli says it well: “Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness.”

When these events arrive in our lives, they are another step in the growing up phase, and age bears no relevance. Let us be aware, give in to the hurt, and then carry on into a new beginning.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about past relationships, after reuniting with a girlfriend from many years ago. It was interesting to write on this topic and if any of you are experiencing a break-up, romantic or friendship, I hope my words are inspirational for your future. I also wish you much happiness, with few tears and heartaches, and I’m always grateful for your visits! Sending virtual hugs and love! Lauren ♥

It Simply Is

In one given moment
on a certain day
a light clicks on
life becomes crystal clear

Contentment carried
its weight, yet the road
of life shadows the river’s
endless changes

Choice on occasion sits at the helm
with supportive excitement
Anticipation follows in the wake
but not lagging at all

However fate at times
lands in the driver’s seat
leaving us only to react
to our own heart’s ability

A Knock on Your Door

When your hair shines like a silver coin
and your age is no longer twenty-one,
when your only hope is simply to remember
and not merely to follow the sun,
will you be grateful for the morning light
when your body has broken in diverse ways
or will you fear the changes fallen upon you
and dread the time in your days?

Voices

They are in control of
Their content and volume

They can spread love universally
Their intent can increase cruelty
They are powerful to a higher degree
Their gift is not to be taken in vain
They are us, they are you, and they are we
Their capability can beautify our world
They are counting on us to nurture
Their ability to mend what. has. been. broken.

Deepest Emotion

Hibiscus

Whether love works or whether it doesn’t
Whether timing is on or whether it isn’t
Love simply is
It seeps into our minds
and weaves into our hearts

Every sense is aware of its presence
We can feel it, hear it, say it, taste it
Try as we might to escape,
we’re captured with intensity
never felt before

Sometimes life guides us to letting go
but in the midst of elation, we hold on
and allow our hearts to soar

(I’m not sure this could be called poetry;
it’s more of random thoughts I felt like sharing) 🙂

Wishing you a Terrific Tuesday! ♥

Crystal Ball

Imagine the future visible through a magic globe,
what is it you would wish to know?

Would peace of mind follow the facts
or would your mind be less relaxed?

Long awaited answers would fill in the blanks;
no more wondering, but would you give thanks?

Learning the future and after all is said
could strip your days of joy, filling you with dread

So living in the here and now might just be the best
instead of venturing into this mysterious quest

I don’t think I’m the only one whose mind wanders into the future,
especially in the beginning of a new year,
so this is just something fun (or not) to think about.
But for now, I’ll just take each day as it comes
and enjoy the anticipation!

The Best Gift

children hugging

Do you live in color, shades of gray or black and white?
Do smiles grace your face as often as they should?
It’s a stretch to dodge the tears and let joy shine through
when times are tough and you’ve done all you could

There are no magic words to take away the sting
or miracle tunes to make you dance along the way
Just a hug and a shoulder and an ear to listen
all from my heart, I offer you this rich bouquet
