I had a hunch this potato with a playful personality did some traveling, but now it’s obvious! He’s spending time with Manuela Timofte over at Gobblers by Masticadores! I’m thrilled because this cute little guy spreads smiles and joy, and we all could use more, wouldn’t you agree? Thank you, Manuela, for continuing to feature my writing, whether my words offer food for thought or entertain. I’m honored, as always. ❤️

Yes, November has arrived, but I have a belated Halloween share, and last week was a whirlwind! 👻🎉😁
These are chocolate chip cookies I baked for the spooky occasion. So, let your spirits return to All Hallow’s Eve… if your nerves get jittery when the sun sinks behind hills and the wind begins to whistle and owls screech from high in looming trees and shadows follow you down the street...
cookies make the ghouls vanish when the sky turns black chocolate magic
But be on your guard since…
eyes watch intently when you indulge in first bite taste with true caution
crossed or not, they spy as you move around the house bewareof cuteness
On the other hand…
chocolate chips whisk worries away in the wind take one, two, or three!

Creepy cackles from tall, looming trees startle their jumpy heartbeats as they walk. Shadows discreetly follow the echoes while they timidly proceed down the block.
Young voices repeat with conviction, “It’s just a night for entertainment.” There’s no need for goosebumps and fear as their eyes focus on the cracked pavement.
Undeniably sensing they’re not alone, many follow in their hesitant footsteps, eager to reach doors and push doorbells but afraid of frightening special effects.
Broomstick witches in purple velvet capes, eerie fog rolling in with white-gown ghosts, superheroes from blockbuster movies, owls hooting from high in their posts.
Some faces look like long lost relatives, wrinkly and aged like dear old granny. Ignoring the screeches, they focus only on filling pillowcases with loads of candy!
I am thrilled that this fun take on Halloween received 142 ❤️s and 17 comments (including my replies)! To those who flew over to Spillwords and hearted and/or commented on my poem, I offer my grandest Thank you!!!! ❤️🙏❤️

I don’t like scary movies! As a teenager, I saw my fill, and the movie that did me in was The Amityville Horror! I was housesitting with my best friend, Melissa, and why we thought going to see this movie was a good idea, I’ll never know. But into the night, every strange sound in the house just about ejected us from our beds! The toilet gurgling, the wind outside, the creaking of the house, the refrigerator whine, our imaginations! Now, as an adult, the news of world events and events in my own country are frightening enough!Who needs Jason, Michael, Chucky, or Freddie?!!! 👻
So, when I read about Spillwords asking for Halloween submissions, I thought, hmmm, scary isn’t my genre. Then I reminisced to the Halloween nights when our children went trick-or-treating in their cute costumes, and behold, a fun, light poem was born. 😁🎃 I’m thrilled that Spillwords liked it enough to publish it in their Halloween collection. My heart is filled with gratitude to Dagmara K. and her team for sharing my writing again within such a talented community. And now for a snippet…

Well, the time has come to wrap this series up! I think I’ve milked it, but I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey. It’s quite obvious the delight and reverence we feel while hanging out with nature in all her glory. And I’m surprised with how much writing inspiration came my way. Several poems are waiting in the wings to be polished. But they’ll have their time in the spotlight down the road. Thanks again for following the series. I truly hope you’ve left with meaningful takeaways. If you’ve missed any parts, you can click on each one below: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4. And now for the conclusion…

On of our hikes, we discovered a pond, and a fun poem came to mind for Part 2 in my camper van adventure series. If you missed Part 1, you can read it here. Enjoy!
Mr. Frog
I wonder if a frog lives in that pond or a family of three or even beyond.
A green meadow surrounds with evenings of hoots – an enchanting location to plant their roots.
With each step of silence I’m quiet as can be. Mr. Frog, please show your wide eyes to me.
When I was five I found a frog as big as a football but not huge like a hog.
I named him Sam, a fine name for him, but it was a tossup between Sam and Tim.
Now you know the reason I simply love frogs as much as my heart loves all breeds of dogs.
And this is why I wish Mr. Frog would pop up soon to bid me the finest day, and tonight, the brightest moon!
Meet the frog that I named Sam made by my mom when I was a little girl. He is comprised oflove, corduroy, and beans.
Can you believe that I’ve never written a limerick? Well, I felt inspired and had fun with these attempts. Some are witty, but a few are more serious. So, I hope you enjoy, and if I made you laugh or others resonated, let me know in the comments below. And remember, these are attempts, so go easy on me! 😃❤️

Copper
There once was a dog named Copper Who sported a nice set of choppers. He’d wiggle for treats. His favorite were meats. He’d be the best eager shopper!
Clouds
The clouds hang gloomy and gray Not making for a very fine day. But joy lives in hearts. Takes one thought to start invoking a warm, glowing ray!

Mallards
Mallards relax on the water Unaware of the human spotter. They find their mate, A temporary date, Then succumb to the steadfast stalker!

I thought some ‘silly and fun’ would be in order after my last post. So, I pulled this oldie from my book, New Day, New Dreams. Wow, 2013 seems like 100 years ago!
Anyway, enjoy some Scrabble Soup!
First you need a thought, nothing fancy and it can’t be bought, then add a spoonful of emotion. There’s no magical potion, although, I have a notion you could include humor. According to rumor, laughter’s the best medicine. It always has been. Yet, contrary to giggles, start some tears flowing with a dash of melancholy, or if you’d rather be jolly, Don’t be coy, Sprinkle in joy. Now to spice up your mixture (I think you get the picture) toss in melody with your favored tempo and let your feet dance. Feel the rhythm and give romance a chance. This is where you improvise (write between the lines). Follow your feelings. Close your eyes, peel off your disguise. This is your recipe. This is your vision. Follow your bliss and for a final touch, Seal it with a kiss!
