The 3-Day Quote Challenge #2

group photos 3
Welcome to the 2nd day of my 3-Day Quote Challenge, which I’m happy to be nominated by Annika at annikaperry.com. Thanks so much, Annika!

To the challenge…The rules are as follows:

Thank the person who nominated you.
Post a quote on 3 consecutive days.
Share why this quote appeals so much to you.
Nominate 3 different bloggers for each day.

Following the events at our house this past Saturday provided inspiration for my second quote:

“Life isn’t meant to be lived perfectly…but merely to be LIVED. Boldly, wildly, beautifully, uncertainly, imperfectly, magically LIVED.” ~ Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass

This quote is relevant because it ties into our celebration of my father-in-law’s 95th Birthday this past weekend. He is truly a man who has LIVED his life and still does!  He’s found love twice in a lifetime, outliving two wives (30-year marriage first then 25-year marriage), has been healthy and active in league bowling and bocce ball. He’s found great satisfaction from delivering meals on wheels, has been a member of SIRS for 30 years, has been an avid walker, and has enjoyed traveling. Not to mention, he’s been active in his church since 1967. He’s also been passionate about classical music and light opera. He loves to socialize and everyone loves him! We finally managed a group photo (above), but only after many guests had already left.

So, it’s quite apparent he’s lived life magically, and may we all do the same!

Instead of nominating individuals, I’ll leave it up to anyone who would like to take on this challenge. 🙂

  1. What an honour Lauren! Birthdays become special as we advance in life and celebrating 95th birthday is indeed a matter of pride and respect. What a delightful day you must have had! Wishing good health to your grandfather.

    1. Thanks so much, Balroop. I agree, turning 95 deserves great respect, and the party was perfect; everything went as planned and everyone had a great time, including the birthday boy! Thanks for your wishes, too, but just to clarify that he’s my father-in-law and not my grandfather. 🙂 🌼🍰🎈

  2. Lauren, I’m so glad you shared a bit of your father-in-law’s very special 95th birthday.💐 What an amazing, wonderful and long life … to have two long loves in his life is blessed indeed and his life is still full of magic! What a lovely gathering for his celebration and you say a lot of people had already left!!

The quote is terrific and an anthem how we should all live our lives … as young, and being a Virgo, I aimed for perfection … now it’s much more of ‘Boldly, wildly, beautifully, uncertainly, imperfectly, magically’! Hugs, my friend and I look forward to your next post! 😀❤️🌺

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed this 95th birthday celebration, Annika, and also the quote. I have many favorites, but I’m going along with life events to see what new quotes I find. Tomorrow is another special day in which I’ll post my final word treasure. 🙂 I’m in agreement with you regarding how to live life now. Don’t you think our perspectives change once we get older? Mine sure has in a good way, although, I probably worry more (about the kids). 🙂
Lots of love and many hugs to you, and hope you’re having a good day! ❤🌻🎆🎉💝

  3. I really love your quote Lauren and truly believe that is the best way to live if you are able.
The wonderful party for your very active and fun father in law is a good proof to this quote. It is a blessing to have the generations sharing.

    1. Thanks, Miriam! I’m glad you enjoyed the pairing of the party and quote. What he has accomplished and how he acts at his age is truly amazing. I hope we follow pretty closely as we get older. My parents lived into their nineties, as well (Mom, 90, Dad, 97), so we have good genes, which is nice. 🙂 I didn’t get the chance to know my grandparents, though, so it’s great that our children were able to…thanks again, and have a good evening! 🌷

  4. Enjoyed reading your post Lauren, think that old timers still has many more years left in him yet, love of life seems to be the elixir of life for him.
    Cheers.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed this post, Ian, and to watch him is definitely remarkable. If we can only live as long (healthy)! And you’re right, his love of life shines through and has carried him this far. Cheers, my friend!

  5. What a beautiful post, Lauren! The quote is just perfect! And belated Happy Birthday to your father-in-law – he seems to be an incredible man who really lives his life to the fullest.
    Have a lovely day! 😊💓💓💓

    1. Thanks, Sarah, for your wishes and glad you liked the quote, too. He’s a perfect example of how to live life – that is for sure! 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful day, too, my friend! xoxoxo

    1. He is pretty amazing, Betty. Right now, I can’t imagine living to 95, but he’s set a great example for living life to its fullest. Hope you’re feeling okay! Hugs ❤

  6. How wonderful to be 95 and surrounded by so many who love you and to be fit and able to enjoy life. He sounds like an amazing man.
Your quote is one of my favorites. It is a mantra for living.
    Love and hugs. 🤗❤️

    1. Thanks for your kind words, Michelle. He’s pretty amazing and has been a great role model for all of us. I’m glad you liked the quote, too. Happy Monday and love and hugs to you, too! xoxo
