26 & 27

The much-loved patio welcomes
with its rustic warmth
and strands of string lights,
the bar stools invite us
to get comfortable for a visual feast
of rolling hills and redwoods.

His hand finds mine;
his words express that I’m most important,
in three months, glasses will clink
to celebrate 37 years –
the 26-year-old girl who met a
27-year-old guy. My words echo his,
but of course, our daughter and son
are the center of our life…

And the weather? Short sleeve
temperature, sublime, serene.
October brings
a summer night’s dream.
Silence flows in with its
special kind of conversation.

Fleeting minutes like these
aren’t taken for granted
because it’s not every day
our perfect dance partner
comes our way,
and although we grow older
and flaws become bolder,
our melody continues to play.

Light neighborhood chatter
drifts through the trees
with an occasional hummingbird
on its tail and a slight breeze.
The moon elegantly hangs
in her dazzling formal attire,
vying for our attention,
and she succeeds
because we are devoted fans.
Her glow mesmerizes –
our focus on her alone.
What a beautiful moment
to call our own.

Coffee, Colors, & Contemplation!

Hubby and I tried out a new coffee place Saturday morning and it was very cool
(and delicious)!

I splurged on a blackberry peach scuffin
and chai latte, and hubby had good ‘ol coffee
and a breakfast sandwich. Yum!

After we finished eating, we enjoyed our drinks while walking around the charming old downtown. We both bought a new book to add to our towering TBRs (how could we pass up the bookstore?), and when I saw this mural, I thought of my dear friend, Resa, who goes on adventures, seeking amazing and emotive murals.
This one isn’t huge, but the colors, joy, and positivity caught my eye:

I couldn’t see the name of the artist…
Too bad the shadow overshadowed this one!
Not the best photo, but a new bloom on our patio.

I’m ending this beginning-of-the-week post with a poem that was inspired by all the rain we were getting. The sun will be in the spotlight this week though…

Your Best Interest

Steel gray clouds battle it out
with the golden orb,
moving slowly to the naked eye,
desiring to cleanse –
Mother Earth is on their side.

But the golden orb wishes
to slide into place
to shine for spirits to rise.

Tragedy and bloodshed fill screens
causing our souls to weep again.

Which one will prevail?
Which will you applaud for?
Cleansing or joy?
Isn’t it a toss-up?

And yet, emotions lie in our hearts.
We choose to let joy flow
,
instead of falling to our knees,
because if there is a way to help,
we will lend a hand,

we will lend our hearts.

So, make the choice that befits your best interest.
Then you will see…

Thank you for visiting today, and I wish you a good week! ❤️

7 am & the rest of the day…

We live for the weekends! Last Saturday our jobs weren’t calling. Our schedule was ours to create. So, our day began with an early morning walk where the temperature was below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Cold and clear. Donned with beanies, warm coats, and gloves, we walked around the neighborhood, enjoying the show of the sky changing colors. And then the words below came to mind…

The sun slowly opens

its sleepy eyes

The neighborhood still breathes

soft breaths

Not a soul

Not a sound

We own this moment

This moment is ours

Tranquility flows through our veins

We exhale gratitude

Another miracle reveals itself

in the creation

of a new dawn

Next, we drove to a local ecological sanctuary filled with numerous trails, so hand in hand, we followed them, enjoying nature’s fabulous entertainment and taking pics along the way. The day was beautiful, sunny and cold, but absolutely glorious!

The rest of the day was filled with relaxation, motorcycle rides, 5:00 o’clock wine-ing, then Saturday night at the movies. Retirement is nearing, but until then, we welcome the welcoming weekends!

Hope you enjoyed and I wish you a great week and weekend ahead! ❤️

January

It’s probably climate change,
Debatable to some.
Digital digits
climb to seventy –
a perfect number
for July,
but not for January
where plump raindrops
should be soothing
the gardens.
Still…
The sun fades into an inky sky.
The moon enters on cue.

Listen…

Shh…

On the hilltop, lights wink
as if to say hello.
The grill hisses,
while Chardonnay sips
allowing muscles to loosen,
thoughts to calm –
Saturday night
contentment.

Into the Country

on the way back roads

It was
a perfect day
for cruising
on open roads,
for watching
the cows
watch us
as we paused
for a moment
to warm our faces
from the sun’s
late entrance,
and to relish
in life’s
simple joys

Saturday – Acrostic

Sunrise calls early, an

alarm, golden, intense

tickling with its rays, sending an

undercurrent to venture outside and

renew spirits with beauty surrounding,

diving into soothing ocean’s song,

abandoning heavy burdens in mind,

yesterday becoming today’s gift
