It was
a perfect day
for cruising
on open roads,
for watching
the cows
watch us
as we paused
for a moment
to warm our faces
from the sun’s
late entrance,
and to relish
in life’s
simple joys

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! ❤
Simple joys of life are as calming as that image you have shared Lauren and your words have added extra charm. Thanks and enjoy them.
Thank you for your lovely and soothing words, Balroop. Those simple joys seem to be moving up the ranks of importance, don’t they? 🙂 Enjoy your weekend! 🌼
Thank you and the same to you!
Thanks, Bee!
🙋
Sounds wonderful! Enjoy the long weekend, Lauren. ❤
These drives are always so wonderful and peaceful, Jill. And I’m glad the weekend is here, thank you, and I hope you enjoy yours, too! 💕
Beautiful.
Thanks so much, Nico!
I’d take that over a city break any day. Sounds ideal.
Me, too, Tric. Thanks for stopping by and have a great, long weekend! 💗
With you on this one, Looks very serene very much like the Peak District near me. Lovely words too.
I’m glad you like the looks of this, too, Alison. Going for these drives is something we do often, and I’m glad you have a similar area to enjoy the same. Thanks for the poem compliment, also, and enjoy your weekend! 🌻
Beautiful, Lauren. Loved driving through these scenes on the way to Inverness.
Thanks, John. It’s great that you know from experience how lovely and peaceful these drives are. 🙂
So true. Thanks, Lauren
Yes, the simple joys are the best, aren’t they? I can just picture the cows watching you, because that’s what they do!
They sure are, and yes, that’s exactly what the cows do! They are too cute! Thanks for stopping by, Barbara, and enjoy your weekend!
You too!
Thank you! 🌷
Lovely and peaceful photo. I love your line ‘ and the cows watching us’.
Don’t they just. Keep emnjoying your calm meandering among the hills
and the curious cows. Sounds like the moors up North.
miriam
Thanks for your lovely comment, Miriam. Those cows have no idea just how cute and entertaining they really are! This is one of our favorite things to do, and I hope you enjoy the same whenever you get the chance. Have a peaceful weekend! 🌷
Ohh, your picture, Lauren and beautiful words. ❤ Some of my most contented hours have been spent in a milking parlour. ❤
Thanks so much, Jane, for your wonderful comment. We love those cows no matter how often we drive by. They’re cute, calm, and entertaining, and they do watch us! Sending hugs for a good weekend! 💗
Lauren
This is delightful.
The brevity is marvelous because you say it so well there’s no need to go on and on.
Excellent!
Big hugs
john
Thanks so much, John, for your most wonderful comment! This wasn’t meant to be a deep, poignant poem – more on the simple side, but rather a fun and visual write. 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoyed, my friend. Big hugs to you, and have a great long weekend!
A lovely, pastoral scene, Lauren. Enjoyed this tranquil post! Hope you’re having a pleasant weekend too. 😎❤️🐄🦋💕
Thanks, Betty. It’s a repeat, but I’m glad you enjoyed it again. The weekend’s been relaxing and productive, all in one. Tonight, we’re celebrating Steph’s birthday. Time flies! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great day, too! Hugs! ❤🌼📚🦆🐛
Lauren, glad you were having a good weekend, and belated best wishes to your daughter for her birthday. Hope you all had a wonderful time!
Wishing you a pleasant week. Hugs ❤️🦋🌸😊
Thanks, and hope you had a good time with your son, too. At least it’s a short week, but I can’t help but feel envious, wishing to be retired. 🙂 Big hugs! 💕🌻🎵😀
Yes, we did have a great time at my son’s. (You’ll love retirement…. but oddly enough one becomes busier than ever. In a good way, though. ☺️ )
💞🌻🐞🦋💕
Some of my growing up years were spent on farms so I have a deep love for rural scenery. Thank you for sharing this picture and the accompanying poem. 🙂
I’m sure you have wonderful memories spent on the farm, Ian. I’m glad you enjoyed both the photo and the poem. These drives are always a favorite for us. Hope you’ve had a good weekend!
Those country drives can be very relaxing.
Yes, they can, and it’s nice to get out of the city once in awhile.
Simple joys are truly what we appreciate as we grow older and wiser. 🙂
Definitely, Debby. It’s just too bad that wisdom couldn’t present itself in our youth. 🙂
True. Hindsight is 20/20 🙂
Beautiful. These small and simple joys keep us alive, dear.
Thanks, Indira, and you are so right! ❤
🙂
Such a beautiful country – love these rolling hills that seem to stretch endlessly into the distance! 💗💗💗
It sure is, Sarah, and one of our favorite drives to plan on a weekend. I, too, love the green, rolling hills and there is no denying just how cute those cows are, also! 🙂 Love and hugs, dear friend. ❤🐄🐄🐄
Sounds perfect, Lauren ♡♡♡
Thanks, Audrey! xoxo
Who can resist the sun’s warm hands on one’s cheeks when out on a chilly day.
Lovely words and image too,
Eric
It’s very hard to resist, isn’t it? Thanks so much, Eric, for all your comments and time taken to catch up. Cheers!
This is so wonderfully me, Lauren. This takes me back over fifty years to a time, as a youth, living out in just such a landscape, my favourite pastime was hiking over the grazing fields and meadows that surrounded our home. I was chased by an enraged bull on one occasion but that is a story for another time!
Bless you for this cherished memory brought on through your words. ~sighs~ lovely.
Wow, Don, I am truly humbled by your wonderful comment, and thank you for sharing your “bull” memory. But please let me know if you ever share the full story. 🙂 Thanks again, my dear friend!
Now I know how the chased feels during the annual bull run! Terrifying as it was and a very near catastrophic experience had the bull impacted me…against a barbed wire fenceline and ominous awaiting post, I may not have lived to share the story!
All the same, being raised in the countryside and even that bull chase experience, left their indelible mark on my life. I long to live out in the country again after so many years in the big city. I plan to relocate back to the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia for my retirement years, a region that so profoundly brought me balance, peace of mind, and an unprecedented sense of inspiration through life amidst a vast, mountainous wilderness.
