Tomorrow…
She sees its promise
in his eyes
Her heart leaps
for today was not enough
She wants all of him

I watch him
Sitting in the sand
His quest for
Adventure
Shines through the look on his face
Deep concentration
A slight breeze
Blows his light brown hair
As he digs
For treasures
My heart warms from his delight
A precious moment

(I learned about this poetry form at Ben’s site,
https://bennaga.wordpress.com/ and he encouraged
me to try a Shadorma, as well. I couldn’t think
of a new topic, so I revised an old poem from
when my son was little. ❤ I hope you enjoy, and
thanks for the nudge, Ben. It’s always good to
learn something new.)

Even if a storm
drenches us
in anger and hurt,
don’t walk away
No matter what
happens in any
given day,
I’m on your side
Take my hand
Feel comfort in
my embrace
Let me trace
the tears you cry
You should know
our world is the
only place I
choose to reside
But if you leave,
assure me
You’ll come back,
like the perennials
return to their gardens
Happy endings
aren’t only found
in paperbacks

I am honored to have had The Drabble accept my submission and choose to publish my poem. They also paired it with the most perfect image. I’ve also enjoyed their other posts, as well, and I encourage you to visit their site, too.

By Lauren Scott
His mind floated through life
where it couldn’t be stopped,
even his logic kept flight
Her face controlled his dreams
as he struggled between the
crevices of reality
below the moon’s supervision
He desired to write poetry,
wordless poetry on her silky skin,
how the touch and taste of her
would be rich to his spirit
But knowing she was far
out of reach,
her whispered kisses
wove softly through his fingers
I repeat the words again
They are said with reverence
With eyes closed, hands folded
They are woven with hope
Each time softly spoken
Yet, the only change
Is the color on the leaves
Does He sense the tone
from which I speak?
Does He hear my pleas?
Understanding the
Importance of timing
Takes time in itself
The new season brings
Warmth with its colors
And new enticing flavors
While hope becomes hazy
And faith begins to waver

Recently, I’ve been inspired to renew an old passion of mine, playing the guitar. I used to play a little when I was younger – late teens, early twenties, along with my ultimate passion for singing. But then life happened, and I chose a different path, which, just so you know, I don’t regret.
Those earlier years, though, instilled the love of music in me, which then was passed onto my daughter, who also loves to sing. My husband and son don’t sing or play an instrument, but they love listening to music. This form of art has always been a big part of our family.
So, a few days ago, I spontaneously went to “just look” at guitars. Bananas at Large is the go-to place for musical instruments and lessons. Well, so much for looking because I came home with a brand new Yamaha acoustic guitar. Since many years have passed, I’m a beginner again, so it’s a great start, not to mention that it’s beautiful. Since then, my daughter and I have been doing 30-minute sessions each night, starting with the basics. My excitement immediately inspired her, so it’s also turned out to be a fun mother/daughter time. I’m also currently looking into lessons, perusing all the teachers at Bananas to find the best fit for both of us.
I am so excited that I feel like a little kid! Seriously! My singing voice has changed, but maybe I can even get it back into gear as I learn the guitar. Now of course, the worst part is conditioning the fingers. Some of those chords, OUCH!
Thus, do any of you play guitar? Do you have stories to tell of when you first learned and your fingers were screaming at you? Any wise words of wisdom or gentle advice? Have any of you renewed an old passion, lately?
Here’s to Renewing Old Passions, and knowing that You’re Never Too Old!

(p.s. wish me luck!)
they convinced me
i only had a few good years left
before i was replaced by a girl younger than me
as though men yield power with age
but women grow into irrelevance
they can keep their lies
for i have only gotten started
i feel as though i just left the womb
my twenties are the warm-up
for what i’m really about to do
wait till you see me in my thirties
now that will be a proper introduction
to the nasty, wild, woman in me.
how can i leave before the party’s started
rehearsals begin at forty
i ripen with age
i do not come with an expiration date
and now
for the main event
curtains up at fifty
let’s begin the show

“the sun and her flowers”
***I didn’t write this, but wish I had. It is written, however,
just the way the author wrote it in her book. This poem conveys
everything I feel. Women have come a long way in society,
but the subordinate label, as well as ramifications of aging,
continue to pop up now and then. The author has lived
a life difficult to even imagine, and her writing tugs at the
heart and kicks you in the gut simultaneously. I’m currently
reading this book (her second), and I also recommend her
first book, “Milk and Honey.”
Admittedly, when I entered my fifties, I experienced
a similar feeling of dread – “i only had a few good years left.”
I have since then shed that mind-set and replaced it with a
“let’s go” attitude. So, Women, whether you’re warming up,
planning your introduction, busy with rehearsals, or
eager for the main event…“You Go Girl!”

You open the door
and again, once more
You smell that smell
that comes from hell
Though you pay the price
beneath the stars and sky
So you do your thing
and you feel like a king
Then you open the door
and again, once more
You breathe in the pines
and everything is fine
(Let’s just say, inspiration
comes from many places.)
