Layers – haiku

(a)

we gaze in wonder
textures and hues entertain
in nature’s artwork

(b)

emotions layered
piled on top of each other
leapfrogging through heart

(c)

devoid of blossoms
beauty in its own manner
eyes appreciate

On a bike ride over the weekend, I had to take a photo of this beautiful cactus. I hope you enjoy my Monday haiku musings. Wishing you a fab week ahead, and thanks for stopping by. ♥️

    1. Thanks for your lovely comment, Deborah. Nature never disappoints, and I like what you wrote about “artwork in even the most mundane plant forms.” I almost pedaled right by this beauty, but then told my husband that I wanted to stop for a photo. 🙂 I’m glad you liked the haiku also. 🥰

    1. Thanks so much, Maggie. I’m glad you liked all of them, but had a fave too. 🙂 I’ve never been into cacti, but I love them now. They’re beautiful in their own way and all so unique. Wishing you the same, dear friend.

      1. Hi Lauren x
Truly my pleasure always my friend .
Plants are like humans, each one has its own uniqueness.
One pair of eyes never views anything the same as another’s
        Have a lovely day 🥰❤️🤗
Hugs and much love to you xoxox

  1. Great combination of photo and haikus, Lauren. My first thought was artichoke, which set off a pavlovian response. Grin. Peggy and I have been living in cactus country for the past few weeks. Amazing how diverse and beautiful they can be.

      1. Thanks Lauren. Be sure to check out the two blogs on the Mokelumne Wilderness. It’s one I would nominate for your backpacking trip this summer. Next up is the trip through Granite Chief and Desolation Wilderness.

  2. Gorgeous came to mind when I saw that cactus. It’s a poem of nature and you wrote beautifully to it, Lauren.

Thank you for your poetry, and have a great week!

    1. I’m happy you felt the same way as I did, Resa! Thanks, as always, for your lovely words! And thank you for supporting my poetry! 🙂 Hugs and lots of love for a great rest of the week. ❤️🌵🌻🥰💐

  3. Wow, you grabbed a great photo while out on the bike ride – I love how it is a down view and then a bit to the left – and your haiku went so well with it.

      1. They are so interesting and when I saw this in the reader – it reminded me of a huge reason I like blogging – we so much nature, fauna, and plants that we might not see in our area.
I was reminded of how expanded my world becomes and I might have to take another long blog hiatus later – but in the meantime, sure am enjoying a decent blog groove – for many reasons – but especially for the nature photography
