April Showers

Raindrops fall on this Saturday
The sun hides behind clouds so gray
Stay cozy inside
Options are wide
Tomorrow, we’ll go out and play!

April showers arrive today
Inside our cozy home we’ll stay
We’ll read a book
Or even cook
No matter, we’ll not drift astray!

Copper was a bit camera shy!

There once was a dog named Copper
Whose good looks were a showstopper
A hugger and kisser
Love he’ll deliver
But with love comes lots of slobber!

A copper-colored coat he dons
Looking handsome as a celebrity icon
A senior now
Gray on his brow
Even with pains, he carries on!

    1. Thanks, Steve, and they are just so much fun! Maybe I will, but right now, they’re coming randomly. I have written more though for Mother’s Day in May because it’s also National Limerick Day on that day. Go figure! 🙂 Thanks again! 🤩

    1. I’m glad you liked these too, Diana, especially the slobbery limerick. Copper’s quite popular! I’ve been writing a lot but some aren’t so light. 🙂 And I’m thinking of a future book, but that would come after my two other book ideas. LOL One in the process. So many ideas, not enough time. The weekend’s been good and hope yours has too! I’m sure it has with Resa’s awesome post. 🥰❤️

  27. A wise man once said you can never have too many Copper limericks, and he was right! All of these are delightful, Lauren, and it makes me wonder if you read your poems about Copper to him? And if so, what is his reaction? Perhaps there’s a poem to be written in there somewhere! 😊

    1. Thanks so much, Mike! I’m glad you enjoyed these limericks, especially the ones about Copper! And you bring up a good question, but actually, he’s totally uninterested in hearing me recite the poems about him unless I have a treat in my hand. You see, he’s very food motivated! 😂🐾🐶🤗

  35. A lovely limerick, Lauren. Great poetry and way with words. I’m guessing it’s Spring where you are. It is autumn here in Melbourne and we are getting quite a few grey days – and your poem really described the mood over here 😄 Copper looks camera shy as you said, agree on that. But also I think he seems a little bit sleepy. Even with grey on his brow now, he still looks handsome as ever 😊
