A Fine Discovery

Sitting on the shore
feeling inconsequential
in its vast presence,
the surface sparkles
like a rare jewel
just discovered

Dragonflies entertain
like tiny jets
Damselflies with their
blue, iridescent wings
gracefully flit about
relatives by nature

Tiny threads of peaceย
weave into the marrow
of our souls

A great fortune
to play a part with nature
in this moment of existence โ€“
to discover such a gem

    1. Thanks so much, Marina! That huge sigh is always warranted when we spend time with nature, especially in this spot. It’s truly magical. Hugs and love for a wonderful Friday, my friend. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’โค๏ธ

    1. This lake is magical, Miriam. We hike from a lower lake after camping, and it’s a 4.5 mile hike up to 6,700 elevation. You can’t help but have a peaceful, wonderful time at both lakes. Nature never disappoints. Thank you for your kind words. โค๏ธ

  1. HI Lauren, this is a beautiful poem. I also love lakes and dragonflies. I was surprised when I learned that dragonflies are the most ancient of all insects and evolved 300 million years ago. Incredible.

    1. Thank you, Robbie. You’d love this lake; it’s truly magical, and we get there after a 4.5 mile hike up. We backpack and stay a few nights. The lower lake is also gorgeous and that’s where we camp. These are the destinations that sparked inspiration for some stories in my book. That’s incredible about dragonflies, something I didn’t know.
