Like a Child

I’ve never seen him act this way
So listless rivalled to fun-filled days
Head hangs low with each new step
Where is his happy, bouncy pep?

Pacing round and round the room
Sunshine doesn’t fade the gloom
Seeking comfort with a whine
His distress infects my mind

He tucks his body in real tight
Leaning on my feet, he might
Those amber eyes touch my soul
Emotions begin to lose control

I’ll care for him until the day
He romps around, eager to play
His floppy ears will tell me so
My love for him will overflow

Our Copper Boy has been sick all week and
it’s been
heart-wrenching to see him not feeling well.
This is a first for him in his almost eleven years.
❤️

      1. Oh my, John, pancreatitis is scary enough in humans. I can’t imagine how Lucy felt. I’m glad she’s better. Copper’s better but it’s a slow recovery. A little stressful, to say the least. Take good care of your fur babies.

    1. Thank you for your beautiful words, Joanna. Our pets become family so when they’re sick, it’s heartbreaking. I think he’s on the mend, but we’re taking it one day at a time. 💕

  1. Oh no… I hope Cooper gets well soon. This was such a sweet poem your wrote for him. I love your affection for him. Stay blessed my dear.❤️❤️

    1. Aww, thanks, Diana, for your lovely words. He’s my third child. 🙂 He’s slowly recovering though, but we still have a few days ahead of us to monitor him. Take care. 💗💗💗

    1. Thanks, Marina. He’s finally showing more energy and those ears are a sure sign. But he’s not 100% himself yet. A few more days of monitoring and bland food before he should be back to normal. Last week felt like a month! When he feels better, he’ll send slobbery kisses to Hera! 🙂 Hugs to you, dear friend, and please take care and stay safe. ❤️❤️❤️

    1. He’s been to Pet ER and the vet and now he’s slowly recovering. But it’s been stressful watching him suffer in pain. The pain has dissipated though which is a relief. Thanks for your well wishes, Binky.

I appreciate your thoughts!
