You and I
are picture perfect
in the undercurrent
and the in-between
We both live beneath
an umbrella of stars
that are yours
and mine
but they are not ours
They never will be

Nicely put, Lauren!
Thanks so much, Binky! I always appreciate your comments!
The last few lines are tragic and profound Lauren. You write from the heart.
I know this one is a bit sad but thank you, Ian, for your wonderful complement! Sometimes I sit and dig deeply into the past and inspiration comes to me.
The ‘in-between’ is such a powerful lead in and ‘place.’
Aww, thanks, Jean! I appreciate that very much!
Beautifully written, but so sad.
Thanks, Michelle, and I guess sometimes I have to add some melancholy, just like life…:)
Beautifully melancholy Lauren. Love it ❤️ Xxx
Thanks so much, Chris…some inspiration comes from many, many years ago. 🙂 ♥ xo
This is so beautifully written but a little sad towards the end. I always love reading your poetry, Lauren!
Blessings,
-Naima
Sadness is a part of life and love so I have to include it and many experiences from the past bring inspiration. Thanks so much, Naima, I always appreciate your support! ♥
Another beautiful poem, Lauren. ❤️ I feel our strong transitory nature as humans within your words. We cannot hold on to anything in this life, yet we are connected and are the stars themselves. Lovely, my friend. Xoxo
And another amazing comment, Angela! Thanks so much, my friend. Your warm words provide encouragement in big doses! Sending hugs! xo
Touching words Lauren! Congrats on your new book, LOVE the cover photo. I’ll have to check it out when I’m at Amazon later today. Hugs to you, G 🙂
Thanks a bunch, Geraldine, and thanks in advance for supporting my book, too! I hope you enjoy it! Big hugs back! 🙂
I like being under the stars and gazing up at them. They are beyond our control, for sure! Lovely poem, Lauren ❤
I love them, too, Christy, and thanks for your wonderful comment, my friend! Have a great weekend, too! ♥
Short and beautifully sweet Lauren.
Wishing you a beautiful Valentines day.
I hope your poem was appreciated by the one you share the stars with
Thanks so much, Ian, for your lovely comment as always and I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day, too! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I love the paradox in this, Lauren, which life … and love … and relationships are tested but also enriched by. Sounds like you had a lovely Valentines Day – may the blessings of love be yours forever. XO ❤
Thanks so much for your lovely words, Diane, and for your blessings, too. Much love to you and many hugs! ♥ xo
touching words . ♥
Thanks so much, Renee! Hugs!
You’re so very welcome. 🙂
Lovely Lauren!… The last verse is perfect … And so is the umbrella of stars ⭐ all the best to you. Aquileana 😀

A wonderful narrative on living in different dimensions!
Thanks again for sharing my words in your world and for your beautiful comment! ♥
Over the past week Venus and Mars have dominated the western sky and I have been angry with them for they have been there forever and will be there well past my time and I think, what’s not to like about me – why couldn’t I be just a planet or a star, why did I only have to be me? Still trying to work it out. Thank you for visiting my blog. I look forward to spending time with your words.
Thanks so much for this deep comment, John, and I have often wondered the same thing about me! 🙂
I might be taking a short break in blogland; just so you know. Your visits are greatly appreciated and I wish you a wonderful rest of the week!
I must admit that I had to read this piece twice before it clicked for me at the end…why does it always seem to be a good person at the wrong time?
Thanks so much for your comment and visit, Sean, and I wish I knew the answer to your question. That’s only one of many answers dangling around us…
This is true😯
Thanks for your comment, Sean!
You’re welcome
