“New Day, New Dreams” (Christmas is coming!)

Hi Everyone!

I want you to know that I have a new “page” entitled “Published Works.”
This page has all the information for ordering my book
and links for Xlibris, Barnes and Noble and Amazon.

I also want to thank those of you who have already purchased a copy!
You Rock and I’m so humbled and grateful at the same time!
Some of us are excited
and some are not so excited,
but the truth is Christmas is just around the corner
and my book would make a great gift.
I know some friends who have bought many for gifts, already,
as they’re thinking ahead.

So, I invite you to visit my Published Works page…

I’m excited to say that several local bookstores
will be housing my book
and I’m currently working on setting up
poetry readings for the near future.
So, the excitement continues!

Promises – Acrostic

Love-Couples-sunrise-sunset

Poetic words slide from your lips, so tenderly, as they

Rest in my heart, softened and beating contentedly

Oh, you need not say more, for you’ve already

Mesmerized my soul to its very core and

I shall guard your love eternally, for

Surely, you can see the same

Emotions in my eyes,

Sweetheart…

All Over Again

Redwoods edited for blog 2013

I thought we had bid farewell
instead, while sweeping
under one of our rugs
its existence glowed
like an October prank
My sanity experienced
an immediate tug

The spirits of my shoulders
dropped with great speed
and the weight of their tears
caused my heart to sink
into a dark abyss
with rejuvenated fears

I remember being thrilled
with its absence
dancing through my days
now I look at my reflection
in the mirror and see traces
of a familiar, emotional maze

The need to blame
is so very strong
I know it’s not right
but I long for someone
to offer their hand,
catch my pleading words
as they roll from my lips
and for a face with kind eyes
to tell me this is just
a vivid nightmare,
not a rewritten script

Repeatedly, I reach for strength,
at times, feeling my fingers slipping
As I kneel, with folded hands,
my heart begs for another error
I silently pray for this presence
to stop haunting our days
and for a beautiful soul to be spared

Blue Sky

blue_sky-wide

My eyes are open now

and they see life’s pattern

has changed

I’m sorry I stayed in the sand

forever, it seemed

but the truth is clear as can be

in my lovely blue sky

and I will move on

because I’m ready to fly

but true from the past)

It’s here – My First Poetry Book has been launched!

After years of talk and a few months of action, the final product is here. I have all of my family to thank for their ongoing support and encouragement and, of course, all of you, for your “likes” and “comments” that gave me the courage to take this step. Without you, this wouldn’t be a reality!

I want to specifically thank my husband, Matt, for being the source of inspiration for many of the poems, my daughter, Stephanie, for her expertise editing, and my son, Michael, for his beautiful cover photo and for taking my “signature” author’s photo, as well.

My first collection of poetry, “New Day, New Dreams” is now available to order from my publisherXlibris, as well as, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

NEW DAY, NEW DREAMS BOOK COVER

A big “thanks again” to all of you
and if you choose to purchase my book,
I hope you enjoy reading it.

With Love and Hugs, Lauren

Butterflies to Stay

It’s easy falling into lust
sharing moments of passion
Falling in love, though
involves the heart
and much more compassion

Striving for “forever”
isn’t always a stroll in the park
but it’s a package worth opening
to experience that spark

It’s feeling those
beautiful butterflies
dancing inside
and sharing your world
with nothing to hide

It’s knowing you are special
even with your flaws
An eternal heart
loves you just because

It’s all of these and so much more
It’s having someone to adore
through all the mess
and all the calm
to comfort through the storm

Happy 94th Birthday, Dad! ♥

Happy 94th Birthday, Dad

I’m honoring my Dad’s 94th Birthday today!

At this “youthful” stage in his life, he still drives, enjoys reading my blog,
has a facebook now, meets a good friend for lunch often, remains active
in his church and is still going strong!
Someday, I’ll ask him again what the secret to a long life is…

Dad, I’m sending you a Blitz Torte (your favorite), but this time,
I didn’t make it myself.
You know I’m a great baker,
but this cake is not my specialty, it was Mom’s.
I was afraid mine would look like the California Earthquake cake again! 🙂
Remember that? I think Mom really enjoyed my attempt and had a good laugh!

There are no new words to say,
only those that have been repeated over the years…

Thank you for all you’ve done for your three daughters
and for all of their families. Your kindness and Love
doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for being our Pillar
and for being Mom’s true love.

WE LOVE YOU AND WISH YOU A HAPPY 94TH!

xoxo
